  • Publication number: 20240424470
Abstract: What is disclosed relates to a novel reactor system design for chemical looping solar fuel production processes incorporating temperature swing between two or more zones, wherein two or more individual reactors are employed, and heat is recuperated between the reactors by means including radiative heat exchange. Each individual reactor comprising the overall system is isolated from other reactors and the external environment for gas exchange purposes, so that the inflow and outflow of chemical species from individual reactors can be controlled. Individual reactors are arranged in the form of a moving train, and heat exchange between a pair of reactors is facilitated by radiative exchange. External heat addition and removal between the system and its environment may be achieved by means including radiative heat exchange with the hot source and convective exchange with the cold source. This may include, in a particular embodiment, the use of solar irradiation.

  • Patent number: 12133693
Abstract: A method for automatic detection of a medical instrument orientation for robotic surgery is presented. The method determines the orientation of a marker device attached to the medical instrument in relation to the robotic system by comparing movement information. The method compares the information about a movement of the marker device from a tracking system with the information about a movement of the robotic arm, which movement data can be acquired by the robotic system. The orientation of the medical instrument with respect to the robotic system can be determined automatically and used for subsequent calculations such as an automatic and efficient precise alignment to a target trajectory or a correct positioning assistance for a mechatronic arm. A computer-implemented medical method of automatically determining an orientation of a medical instrument base in relation to a robotic system is provided.

  • Publication number: 20240170575
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a gate structure over a corner segment of a semiconductor region. A structure according to the disclosure includes a semiconductor region within a substrate. The semiconductor region includes a first edge, a second edge oriented perpendicularly to the first edge, and a first corner segment connecting the first edge to the second edge. A first gate structure extends over the first edge, and entirely covers the first edge and the first corner segment of the semiconductor region.

  • Publication number: 20240145838
Abstract: A high power density battery pack for a solar-electric vehicle includes a frame with compartments for battery modules arranged therein. The modules are in thermal communication with a unitary cooling plate disposed underneath. The modules include an array of secondary cells arranged in bottom and top carriers. The bottoms of the cells are in thermal communication with a heat spreader. The cells are oriented with their electrodes in a common plane and electrically isolated by the top carrier. One or more potting materials fills the interstitial spaces between the cells. The cells are connected in parallel and series by interconnects. A module monitoring system tracks the voltage and temperature of the modules. Modules are connected in series by intra-row and inter-row interconnects. A battery management system provides a solar charging mode for both stationary and in-motion vehicle operation, and a low-power quiescent mode when the vehicle is powered down.

  • Patent number: 11866670
Abstract: Systems and methods associated with biomass decomposition are generally described. Certain embodiments are related to adjusting a flow rate of a fluid comprising oxygen into a reactor in which biomass is decomposed. The adjustment may be made, at least in part, based upon a measurement of a characteristic of the reactor and/or a characteristic of the biomass. Certain embodiments are related to cooling at least partially decomposed biomass. The biomass may be cooled by flowing a gas over an outlet conduit in which the biomass is cooled, and then directing the gas to a reactor after it has flowed over the outlet conduit. Certain embodiments are related to systems comprising a reactor and an outlet conduit configured such that greater than or equal to 75% of its axially projected cross-sectional area is occupied by a conveyor.

  • Patent number: 11773497
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates in certain embodiments to a combined cycle power plant system comprising an electrochemical compressor. For instance, in one set of embodiments, the electrochemical compressor is may separate oxygen from a flow of air from an air source to provide a pressurized flow of oxygen to a combustor. In some embodiments, the resulting combustion products may only include oxygen and water without any substantial fraction of other combustion products or contaminants which may facilitate the separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) for subsequent processes including compression and/or storage.

  • Patent number: 11589934
Abstract: Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of determining control data for increasing the braking force exerted by a braking mechanism of a mechatronic articulable arm on at least one or all joints connecting the arm elements of the mechatronic articulable arm to a level of braking force which is higher than the level required for locking the joint or joints, respectively. The control data is determined in dependence on both the relative position between the mechatronic articulable arm and an anatomical body part of patient, and a locking state of the mechatronic articulable arm.

  • Patent number: 11372896
Abstract: A system and computer-implemented method of grouping data records for subsequent data record searching. A level of textual similarity of data records in a group of data records is determined using matching and identifying a textual similarity metric between pairs of data records in the group of data records, and clustering the data records to form groups of textually similar data records. The groups of textually similar data records are provided to a computerised log of textually-matched data records. Further, temporally-repeating data records in the computerised log are identified. If all the data records in a group of temporally-repeating textually similar data records have a level of temporal and textual similarity above an overall similarity threshold, they are provided to a computerised log of temporally and textually-matched data records, for example for searching or future forecasting.
