  • Publication number: 20130168315
Abstract: Methods and systems based on membrane separation processes for removal of field chemicals are provided. In certain embodiments, methods and systems for water impurity removal include introducing contaminated water into membrane separation devices, which comprise ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, or a reverse osmosis membranes. In some embodiments, the reverse osmosis system comprises a semi-permeable membrane capable of rejecting substantially all of the monovalent ions, divalent ions, and organic molecules. Examples of impurities which may be removed by this system include kinetic hydrate inhibitor and/or corrosion inhibitor. In certain embodiments, the impurity removal system may comprise one or more impurity removal stages. Some embodiments of the present invention feature a high field chemical removal rate of from about 84 percent to about 99.9 percent, depending on the choice of membranes.

  • Patent number: 8341736
Abstract: An arrangement for dynamically identifying and intercepting potential software threats before they execute on a computer system is provided in which a file system filter driver (called a “mini-filter”) interfaces with an anti-malware service to selectively generate an alert event and allow the threat to run, in addition to generating an alert event and suspending the threat. The decision to suspend the threat or allow it to run is made through application of a cascading logic hierarchy that includes respective policy-defined actions, user-defined actions, and signature-defined actions. The mini-filter generates the alert event to the anti-malware service whenever a file is opened, or modified and closed. The service uses an engine to scan the file to identify potential threats which are handled though application of the logic hierarchy which provides for configurations defined in a lower tier of the hierarchy to be overridden by those contained in a higher tier.

  • Patent number: 5219255
Abstract: A nut assembly to be mechanically locked to a threaded bolt or pin of the type having an annular groove. The nut assembly comprises a threaded nut element to engage the bolt and a washer connected to the nut element. The washer has first and second coaxially aligned cylindrical walls extending therefrom. The first wall of the washer is deflected into contact with the nut element to prevent the disconnection of the nut element from the washer during handling prior to installation. In the as-packaged configuration of the nut assembly, the nut element is seated upon the second wall of and spaced from the washer. During installation, the nut element is drawn towards the washer to deflect the second wall radially into the annular groove of the bolt to mechanically lock the washer to the bolt and thereby prevent the inadvertent withdrawal of the bolt from the nut assembly due to vibration and similar mechanical forces.
