  • Patent number: 11844781
Abstract: The polymeric clotrimazole biofilm for the treatment of otomycosis contains clotrimazole or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the active pharmaceutical ingredient in a polymer biofilm thug delivery vehicle. The polymer may be a bio compatible polymer, such as hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC). Propylene glycol may be added to the mixture as a plasticizer to promote formation of the film. The drug and the polymer may be solvated in a casting solvent and then mixed in a 1:3 ratio of drug:polymer. About 15% propylene glycol may be added to the mixture, which is then heated at 40° C. until a thin, flexible film forms. A round, knife-thick patch of the biofilm may be applied to the patient's ear through the external canal and over the tympanic membrane.

  • Patent number: 11833132
Abstract: A method of synthesizing silymarin-loaded collagen collagen nanoparticles can include dissolving silymarin in an alcohol to provide a solution, mixing the solution with acetic acid to provide an acetic acid mixture, and adding the glutaraldehyde to the mixture to provide silymarin nanoparticles. The silymarin nanoparticles can be dissolved in a further alcohol and mixed for a period of time to provide a silymarin nanoparticle mixture. Then, the silymarin nanoparticles can be mixed with collagen nanoparticles to provide a silymarin/collagen mixture. Glutaraldehyde can be added to the collagen mixture to provide the nanocomposite formulation.

  • Patent number: 11833181
Abstract: A method of treating and preventing Alzheimer's disease (AD) in a subject can include administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a nanocomposite formulation including nanosilymarin (silymarin nanoparticles) encapsulated within a collagen-based-polymeric nanoparticulate drug delivery system. The nanocomposite formulation can effectively treat and prevent Alzheimer's disease (AD) at dose ranging from about 100 mg/kg/day to about 300 mg/kg/day.

  • Patent number: 11730759
Abstract: A composition for treating ulcerative colitis can include zinc oxide nanoparticles; and sulfasalazine adsorbed onto a surface of the zinc oxide nanoparticles. The composition can be administered to a patient to treat ulcerative colitis or symptoms associated with ulcerative colitis. The composition can be administered at about 100 mg/kg of zinc oxide nanoparticles and up to about 12.2 mg/kg of sulfasalazine. These compositions exhibit synergistic effects in treating ulcerative colitis.
