Patent number: 11933133Abstract: A technique facilitates actuation of a packer to a sealing and gripping position along a borehole. The packer includes a packer element structure mounted about a center structure. The packer element structure includes a sealing element mounted along an expandable base such that the sealing element may be radially expanded. Additionally, the packer includes an actuator member connected to a portion of the packer element structure via a release mechanism, e.g. a shear member. A plurality of slips may be located on the actuator member such that linear movement of the actuator member causes successive movement of the packer sealing element and then the slips in the radially outward direction. The packer may be constructed such that this sequential setting motion creates a jarring effect to ensure the slips securely bite into the surrounding wellbore surface, e.g. casing surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2020Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Farhan Ahmed Omer, Susan Wu, Thomas Eric Dudley, Yiming Fan, Weiming Lan, Nitin Verroju

Patent number: 11829225Abstract: Embodiments may include systems, techniques, methods, apparatus and/or device to receive an input selecting one or more areas of a display of the computing device, leaving one or more other areas of the display unselected, and to apply a masking layer to mask either pixels of the one or more selected areas or pixels of the one or more unselected areas to cause the masked pixels to be dimmed, to reduce power consumption by the display. Embodiments may further include where the one or more of the selected areas include a focus area of interest, and to apply the masking layer to mask pixels of the one or more unselected areas to cause the masked pixels to be dimmed. Embodiments may be implemented via software without directly interacting with hardware. Other embodiments may be described or claimed.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2021Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Lunkai Zou, Hua-Mei Yang, Yiming He, Feng-Ming Yang, Ajay Saini, Ahmed Omer

Patent number: 11827529Abstract: Ce and Zn doped NiFe2O4 materials synthesized via a sol-gel method used as a catalyst. The NiFe2O4 catalysts doped with Ce and Zn exhibit distinctive electrocatalytic activity towards urea oxidation. The Ce and Zn-doped NiFe2O4 catalysts can play a critical role as catalytic moderators, accelerating charge transfer in the anodic part of the urea fuel cell (UFC) and potentially improving the efficiency and cost of UFCs. These materials provide a promising approach for developing novel, non-precious electrodes for next-generation fuel technologies.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2023Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: KING FAISAL UNIVERSITYInventors: Ahmed Omer Alnajjar, Hany Mohamed Abd El-Lateef Ahmed

Patent number: 11821283Abstract: A technique facilitates use of a liner hanger in a borehole. A port free hydraulic unibody system including an outer structure having a tubing hanger portion and a packer portion mounted about a mandrel may be constructed so as to avoid the creation of leak paths. A seal system may be employed between the mandrel and the surrounding outer structure to ensure sealing engagement therebetween. The mandrel has a port free section on the downhole side of the seal system, and this port free section is maintained during, for example, actuation of the tubing hanger portion so as to prevent formation of leak paths. An actuator may be located along the mandrel and may be configured to initiate actuation of hanger slips mounted along the tubing hanger portion. An anti-preset mechanism positioned along the mandrel works in cooperation with the actuator to prevent premature actuation of the hanger slips.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2020Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Michael Underbrink, Farhan Ahmed Omer, Susan Wu

Patent number: 11293270Abstract: A technique facilitates performance of a gravel packing operation and desired zonal isolation. An apparatus, e.g. a sliding sleeve shunt tube isolation valve, may be deployed downhole and configured to facilitate a gravel packing operation and zonal isolation. By way of example, the apparatus contains a conduit which in an open position allows the flow of gravel pack slurry and in a closed position creates a barrier. In the closed position, upper and lower portions of the conduit are isolated from one another. When the apparatus is coupled with a packer and sand screens, the apparatus serves to create complete zonal isolation in, for example, an open hole alternate path system.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2018Date of Patent: April 5, 2022Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Scott Malone, Kameron Klauber, Nitin Verroju, Robert Krush, Michael Huh, Farhan Ahmed Omer, Chidi Nwafor

Publication number: 20070226332Abstract: A scheduler selects an I/O from a session of a pool and updates token buckets associated with resource limits and reserves for the session and the pool and statistics used in determining fair sharing. To select an I/O, the scheduler identifies sessions with a non-empty queue, identifies head I/Os in the queues, computes for the head I/O a deadline using session and pool reserve buckets and a release time using session and pool limit buckets, and selects a head I/O with an earliest deadline that is past the release time. If the deadline of the selected candidate head I/O is in the past, the scheduler transfers the selected head I/O to the tail of the storage device queue. Otherwise, the scheduler selects the pool with the least amount of I/O traffic according to a session fair share estimator.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2006Publication date: September 27, 2007Inventors: Ralph Becker-Szendy, Richard Golding, Caixue Lin, Theodore Wong, Ahmed Omer
