Patent number: 10151365Abstract: An expanding device for actuating one of the brake shoes of a drum brake includes a body of revolution and transmission bodies actuated by the body of revolution via ball track ramps. A spacer body is located between two partial bodies of the body of revolution, the spacer body guided by an adjustment spring keeping the partial bodies at the respectively reached distance. The spacer body is screwed onto a pin on the first partial body. A readjustment nut ensures that, when the two partial bodies are pushed apart, the spacer body rotates on the pin and moves away from a supporting surface on a partition of the second partial body. Upon renewed actuation of the brakes, the readjustment nut is guided such that the spacer body bears against the second partial body, but takes up a different position on the pin, the position corresponding to the air clearance readjustment.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2015Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHGInventors: Uwe Bach, Jens Hoffmann, Martin Gädke, Holger von Hayn, Ahmed Sefo, Thorsten Lahr, Wolfgang Ritter

Patent number: 9422992Abstract: A disc brake includes brake pads (7), which are slidably received on either side of a brake disc within guide portions (6) of the disc brake, and including a spring arrangement (10) for spring cushioning the brake pads (7). Disc brakes of this type are frequently used in motor vehicles. To improve the spring cushioning of the brake pads, the spring arrangement (10) is equipped with at least one radial spring element (11) for radially clamping the brake pads (7) with respect to the guide portions (6), at least one axial spring element (22) for axially clamping the brake pads (7) in relation to each other, and at least one tangential spring element (18) for tangentially clamping the brake pads (7) in relation to the guide portions (6). The three spring elements (11, 18, 22) act in different spatial dimensions and can be embodied as separate components which are independent of each other.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2005Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: CONTINENTAL TEVES AG & CO., OHGInventors: Uwe Bach, Hans Bungert, Jürgen Bauer, Ahmed Sefo

Patent number: 9175737Abstract: A drum brake module for motor vehicles operable by electric motor and performs at least one parking brake function, having an electromechanical actuator mounted on one side of the armature plate and a rotational-translational movement converter converting a rotational drive rotational movement into a translational activation movement of brake shoes arranged on a side of the armature plate facing away from the actuator in a brake drum, and including at least one supporting device between the brake shoes such that the latter can carry out an activation movement in the direction of the brake drum. A drive nut is supported by the rotational-translational movement converter in an axially secure and rotatable fashion on the armature plate to assist the braking force. The drive nut drives a spindle arrangement mounted in a rotationally fixed and axially displaceable fashion and engages with an activation cable on at least one brake shoe.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2012Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHGInventors: Uwe Bach, Holger von Hayn, Ralf Sundheim, Wolfgang Ritter, Ahmed Sefo, Jürgen Balz, Jens Hoffmann, Martin Semsch, Götz Mehner, Dirk Sundheim

Patent number: 8276718Abstract: A disk brake having a brake disk, a brake caliper including a bracket, a caliper housing and a brake lining. The bracket and the caliper housing engage axially around the brake disk, with the caliper housing and the brake lining movable in an axial direction. The caliper housing has outer housing limb comprising two housing fingers which run substantially in a radial direction and which span a limb window situated between them and which is open in the direction of the rotational axis, with the housing fingers having one end section facing the rotational axis. A protective screen covers end sections of the housing fingers and conceals a section of the limb window that faces the rotational axis, with an outer dimension of the protective screen in a circumferential direction such that a transition between the protective screen and the housing fingers is substantially stepless in an axial projection.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2007Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHGInventors: Uwe Bach, Stefan Heinz, Peter Bogenschütz, Ahmed Sefo
