  • Patent number: 7743178
Abstract: A system for enabling SATA drives to be utilized in FC SANs is disclosed. To send data to a SATA drive over a FC SAN, a host sends SCSI commands encapsulated in FC frames over a standard FC link to a Fibre Channel Attached SATA Tunneling (FAST) RAID controller, where the SCSI commands are de-encapsulated from the FC frames and translated to SATA FISs. The SATA FISs are thereafter encapsulated into FC frames. The IOC that performs these functions is referred to as a FAST IOC. The SATA-encapsulated FC frames are sent to multiple disk drive enclosures over another standard FC link. The FC frames are de-encapsulated by FAST switches in disk drive enclosures to retrieve the SATA FISs, and the SATA FISs are sent to the SATA drives over a SATA connection.

  • Patent number: 6979025
Abstract: A metal pipeline section that has a metal flange at one end is lined with a plastic liner such that some of the liner extends beyond the flange end of the pipeline section. An annular plastic member is electrofusion joined onto the outside of the portion of plastic liner which extends beyond the flange end of the pipeline section and any liner extending beyond the annular plastic member is trimmed off to make the liner flush with the annular plastic member. The annular plastic member is then positioned adjacent the annular plastic member of another similarly prepared pipeline section and a containment ring is secured around them to restrain any outward movement of the annular plastic members when the pipeline is in use. The metal flanges are secured to each other such that the annular plastic members are compressed between them to prevent leakage.

  • Publication number: 20040061328
Abstract: The present invention relates to the joining of lined pipes, particularly lined pipes for high pressure applications. A metal pipeline section that has a metal flange (13) at one end is lined with a plastic liner (15) such that some of the liner extends beyond the flange end (13) of the pipeline section. An annular plastic member (16) is electrofusion joined onto the outside of the portion of plastic liner (15) which extends beyond the flange end (13) of the pipeline section and any liner extending beyond the annular plastic member is trimmed off to make the liner flush with the annular plastic member (16). The annular plastic member (16) is then positioned adjacent the annular plastic member of another similarly prepared pipeline section and a containment ring (17) is secured around them to restrain any outward movement of the annular plastic members when the pipeline is in use.

  • Patent number: 6389577
Abstract: A method and implementing system is provided in which input signal specifications, element internal delays and output loads, for each element in a circuit design, are utilized in an iterative processing engine to objectively determine and provide a timing rule database for a circuit being designed. A schematic database netlist is run through a test model converter program to provide a test model database at a gate level for the test model design circuit. These data are processed by a designer through a workstation GUI and the result is applied to an I/O design testing function. The results of the I/O design testing function include a listing of patterns of input combinations which are needed to get listed outputs. The GUI prepares a sequence of stimuli to test the circuit with a timing simulator. Based on the output response of the timing simulator, delay relationships under various input and output load conditions are compiled.

  • Patent number: 5913063
Abstract: A visual coding tool that allows a user to visually implement the full inheritance capabilities of object oriented programming languages is disclosed. This includes the ability to visually create a first object class which is a subclass of a second object class, where the first object class has, as one of its attributes, a third object class which is a subclass of a fourth object class. The third object class is not an attribute of the second object class, while the fourth object class is also not an attribute of the second object class. The visual coding tool includes a user interface which allows a user to visually create object classes and establish an object class hierarchy by "dragging and dropping" visual icons associated with object classes.

  • Patent number: 5905999
Abstract: A cache sub-array arbitration circuit for receiving a plurality of address operands from a pending line of processor instructions in order to pre-fetch data needed in any memory access request in the pending instructions. The sub-array arbitration circuit compares at least two addresses corresponding to memory locations in the cache, and determines in which sub-arrays the memory locations reside. If the two memory locations reside in the same sub-array, the arbitration circuit sends the higher priority address to the sub-array. If a received address operand is the real address of a cache miss, the arbitration circuit sends the cache miss address to the sub-array before other pre-fetch memory access request.

  • Patent number: 5771186
Abstract: A multiplier circuit within a CPU has its selections of partial products reordered in a unique manner so that shift left capabilities are eliminated and the hardware is required to only perform shift right operations. This allows for reduced circuit sizes in several components within the multiplier circuit in order to save area, speed computation time, and reduce power consumption on the chip.
