  • Patent number: 8462267
Abstract: At the time of dividing an input frame into multiple subframes and performing frame rate conversion, a frame rate conversion apparatus detects the degree of motion of each region composed of one or more pixels in the input frame, and determines a spatial frequency for each region in the multiple subframes according to the detected degree of motion of the region. The conversion apparatus then converts each region in the multiple subframes to the determined spatial frequency, divides the input frame into those subframes whose regions have been converted, and outputs the subframes.

  • Patent number: 8405768
Abstract: A distribution ratio Rt? of sub-frames Pt and Qt that correspond to an input frame Ft is calculated based on motion of an image in an input frame. The calculated distribution ratio Rt? is then corrected according to a distribution ratio Rt?1 between sub-frames Pt?1 and Qt?1 corresponding to an input frame Ft?1 which is to be reproduced before the input frame Ft. A distribution ratio Rt is thus acquired.

  • Publication number: 20110069227
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for generating high-frequency emphasized image data emphasizing a high-frequency component and low-frequency interpolated image data using motion compensation, from image data input for each frame, and outputting the high-frequency emphasized image data and the low-frequency interpolated image data as sub-frames. The apparatus includes a calculation unit configured to calculate an evaluation value of a motion vector detected during the motion compensation, and a control unit configured to control, based on the calculated evaluation value, luminance of the low-frequency interpolated image data to be lowered relative to the high-frequency emphasized image data.
