Abstract: A text messaging device including a transmitter having different transmission modes for transmitting text messages, which are addressed to mobile terminals or to other information, to a server. The text messaging device includes a receiver for receiving from the server text messages from the mobile terminals or from the other information terminals. The text messaging device also includes a detector for detecting and reporting to the server an operational status of the transmitter including a change of status of a connection with communication lines.

Abstract: The text messaging system consists of mobile terminal (5) connected to mobile communication network (4), information terminal (3) connected to computer network (2), and server (1) connected to the mobile communication network and the computer network. The information terminal (3) has status detection means (22), (23), and (24), and detects an operational status including at least the connection status of the computer network and notifies the server (1) of it. The server (1) has status administration means (8) and (9) and decision means (10). The status administration means (8) and (9) retain the operational status of the information terminal (3) notified from status detection means (24) for each user. The decision means (10) determines a send mode according to the operational status of the information terminal such as whether to send a text message to an information terminal or to send a text message with a network application.

Abstract: A status setting method that includes, setting and notifying a status that is suitable to a channel, preparing a status table for storing a settable status for each channel, and obtaining the status table of the channel. The user status in each channel is selected from among statuses registered in the status table of the channel and then set. Users can set a suitable status for each channel because the status table is set according to properties of each channel and user statuses can be separately set for each channel. It is preferable that a particular user such as an administrator set a status table. A settable status in a channel can be changed according to a user attribute in the channel.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to methods and devices for displaying conversations on a network for ease of viewing in accordance with user preferences. Based on thread (message-group) forming instructions from users, as well as on member users' instructions, threads are created from member users' remarks. Instead of designating users, remarks that include threads may be designated. Thread information relating to the created threads is at the same time created and stored. The thread information includes predetermined information such as thread IDs, member users and authors. The created thread information is reported to other users in the network, and is in common with thread information within the network. Remarks within a thread may be displayed in a thread window 307 only, or displayed in both it and a conversation window 303, configurable to suit according to user instructions.
