  • Patent number: 10432383
Abstract: A method and a base station are provided. The base station obtains a first path gain of a cellular radio link to a first wireless device, a second path gain of a cellular radio link to a second wireless device and a third path gain of a Device-to-Device radio link between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. When the first, second and third path gains satisfy a threshold condition, the base station instructs the second wireless device to apply network coding on first data transmitted from the first wireless device and to transmit a network coded form of the first data. The base station receives a radio signal with the first data transmitted from the first wireless device and uses the network coded form of the first data transmitted by the second wireless device for decoding the first data.

  • Patent number: 10237880
Abstract: Method and radio access point for handling a two-way communication between a first wireless device and a second wireless device which are both served by the radio access point. A set of candidate transmission modes are available for use in the two-way communication. The radio access point obtains a mode-specific quality metric related to a predicted Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio, SINR, for each one of the candidate transmission modes, and selects one of the candidate transmission modes based on the obtained mode-specific quality metrics. The radio access point is thus able to select the transmission mode that has the best mode-specific quality metric in the set. The selected transmission mode is then applied for the two-way communication. Thereby, the most favorable transmission mode may be selected and used to provide satisfactory or even optimal performance.

  • Patent number: 10129918
Abstract: A methods, base station, wireless device and candidate relay device for supporting a D2D communication between a first wireless device and a second wireless device over a relay. The base station receives (302) from the first device an identity of a candidate relay wireless device and a first quality metric (Geq) pertaining to a first relay link between the first device and the candidate relay device and to a second relay link between the second device and the candidate relay device. The base station also obtains (304) a second quality metric (G12) pertaining to a D2D link between the first and second devices, and a third quality metric (G1 BS) pertaining to a cellular link between the base station and the first device. When the first quality metric (Geq) indicates a better link quality than both the second metric (G12) and the third metric (G1 BS), the base station selects (310) a relay mode for the D2D communication with the candidate relay device as the relay and instructs the involved devices accordingly.
