    Abstract: A robust method of page indication (PI) detection improves the probability of detecting a transmitted PI under conditions that decrease the probability of accurate PI detection. The method includes choosing a standard value of a PI threshold against which to compare accumulated PI bits when the probability of correctly detecting the PI is high, and choosing a derived value of the PI threshold lower than the standard value when the probability of correctly detecting the PI is low. The derived PI threshold value determination includes a factor indicative of a desired probability of accurate PI detection.

    Abstract: A weaker cell is discovered in a mobile communication system that also includes a stronger cell. Discovery involves ascertaining a slot timing of a received signal that has passed through a channel. The slot timing is used to ascertain a stronger secondary synchronization vector contained in the received signal. A channel estimate is generated, and used with the stronger secondary synchronization vector to generate a cancellation signal that is an estimate of a stronger secondary synchronization vector component of the received signal. Removing the cancellation signal from the received signal yields a residual signal. The slot timing is used to ascertain a weaker secondary synchronization vector contained in the residual signal. The weaker secondary synchronization vector is used to ascertain a group identifier (ID) of the weaker cell. The group ID of the weaker cell and the residual signal are used to ascertain the weaker cell's scrambling code ID.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of adaptive weighting space-time transmit diversity, comprising: symbols to be transmitted at a transmitting end being output after being space-time encoded according to certain regulation, and the current transmission powers of the two antennae being real-timely adjusted according to the given transmission power weight values; after the transmission powers are determined, the space-time encoded output signals being sent out at two independent antennas by transmitting antenna array in terms of the current transmission power; the fading characters of two wireless channels being estimated by the receiver at a receiving end according to the present received signals and then fed back to the transmitting end; the transmitting end receiving and obtaining the fading amplitude characters of two wireless channels through feedback channel, calculating new adaptive weight values of transmission powers, and adjusting transmission powers according to these weight values.
