  • Publication number: 20240285237
Abstract: A smart intravenous catheter (IVC) assembly includes a stabilization platform configured to hold an IVC in a fixed position relative to tissue of a patient, and a sensor module mechanically supported by the stabilization platform. The sensor module includes at least one sensor configured to sense a physical characteristic of the tissue of the patient and produce sensed data representing the physical characteristic of tissue of the patient, and a transceiver configured to transmit the sensed data to a smart device remote from the stabilization platform.

  • Publication number: 20230321404
Abstract: A catheter arrangement and use of a catheter arrangement in infusion therapy. The catheter arrangement includes a catheter with a housing body, a hollow needle, a tube fitted onto a distal end of the housing body, a valve element arranged in the housing body with a fluid passage, and a fluid-conducting path extending through the housing body, the fluid passage and the tube. The needle extends longitudinally through the fluid-conducting path in a state of readiness of the catheter arrangement, and is drawn out of the fluid-conducting path in a state of use of the catheter arrangement. The valve element has an elastic wall portion through which the fluid passage extends. The fluid passage can be shifted by a fluid-pressure-induced elastic deformation of the wall portion between an open state, in which the fluid passage is open, and a closed state, in which the fluid passage is closed.

  • Publication number: 20230052494
Abstract: A sensing system for sensing a potential complication at a venous catheter site. The system includes a sensor module for attachment at the site of the catheter. The sensor module includes a pressure sensor configured to generate pressure data representing measured pressure at the site of the catheter; a temperature sensor configured to generate temperature data representing measured temperature at the site of the catheter; and two pairs of bio impedance electrodes that generate bioelectrical signals representing bioelectrical activity at the site of venous catheter and a transmitter for transmitting the pressure, temperature data and bio impedance data.

  • Patent number: 11103681
Abstract: Needle assemblies are disclosed having a multi-purpose protective cap. The needle assemblies can embody a catheter assembly having a catheter hub and a catheter tube or a hypodermic needle mounted on a needle hub. The multi-purpose cap includes a first section covering the needle and a second section having a base portion for covering a hub, such as a needle hub or a catheter hub. The first section and the second section are separable from one another along a detachment line and the second section is re-useable as a securement device.

  • Publication number: 20210244359
Abstract: Catheters (104) with monitoring capabilities that can upload sensed or acquired data to a smart device (120) and/or a Cloud server (130). One or more sensors (106) can be located with a catheter assembly to collect data. The collected data can be processed by data analytics to analyze the data for usable information, such as to spot trends, patterns, and cause-effect relationships of the various detected conditions. The information can be viewed using an App or a web-browser dashboard or a local monitor.

  • Patent number: 10173002
Abstract: Needle devices are described. The needle devices can have a catheter hub, a needle hub, a housing located between the catheter hub and the needle hub. The housing can have an engagement mechanism to removably attach the housing to the catheter hub. The housing can further include a release element to release the engagement mechanism from the catheter hub to disengage the housing from the catheter hub. A flow regulator can be positioned inside the catheter hub. The flow regulator can include a stem and a sleeve.
