  • Patent number: 8773990
Abstract: In systems and methods of detecting a wireless device utilizing unauthorized tethering, a plurality of wireless devices in communication with an access node is detected, and a suspect device list of wireless devices which are not authorized for tethering is determined from among the plurality of detected wireless devices. An expected hop value is stored for each suspect device, a data packet is received from each suspect device, and a first hop value is determined for each suspect device. Based on a first comparison of the expected hop value and the first hop value at least one suspect device is identified as performing unauthorized tethering.

  • Patent number: 8774035
Abstract: Application requirements of an application running on a wireless device are received. The wireless device is handed off from a first network to a second network when a first handoff criteria is met based on the application requirements, first network conditions, and second network conditions. A second network usage of the application is limited based on the application requirements and the second network conditions, and first network conditions are monitored while the application is running on the wireless device in communication with the second network. The wireless device is handed off from the second network to the first network when a second handoff criteria is met based on the application requirements, the first network conditions and the second network conditions.

  • Patent number: 8203995
Abstract: A method for transmitting data in a wireless network includes generating a packet of data having a connection identification (CID) indicating a connection to a final destination for the packet of data. A desired path for transmitting the packet of data to the final destination is determined. The desired path includes one or more relay stations. The generated packet of data is encapsulated in one or more capsules, each capsule having a CID indicating a connection to one of the one or more relay stations along the desired path. The packet of data is routed along the desired path using the CIDs of the one or more capsules and the packet of data to arrive at the final destination. At each of the one or more relay station, an outer-most capsule having a CID corresponding to the present relay station is stripped from the packet of data.

  • Publication number: 20120140696
Abstract: Connection ID (CID) assignment in multi-hop relay system can be used to perform routing. Using CID assignment as routing information in a multi-hop wireless relay system to maintain the routing structure is disclosed. In a CID cache scheme, a base station builds a CID cache based on the upstream packet and broadcasts the CID cache to a relay station. The CID cache comprises CIDs along with routing information. Based on CID cache the spanning tree of the routing can be reconstructed. A hierarchical CID assignment is disclosed wherein a base station assigns a range of CIDs to a relay station. A relay station can recognize its data packets and forward them to corresponding mobile stations. Maintaining routing automatically along with CID assignment is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8130741
Abstract: A method is provided for allocation downlink bursts in a data region of a OFDMA data system, such data region having along one axis thereof increasing logical sub channel numbers and along another axis thereof increasing OFDMA symbol numbers, and wherein the burst are allocated into rectangular shaped sub regions within the data region. In one embodiment, the method allocates the bursts into rectangular shaped sub regions of the data region with minimum unused sub regions within the data region. In one embodiment, the method creates and locates the data region with minimum unused slots at the lowest logical sub channel number and the lowest OFDMA symbol number. In another embodiment, the method allocates the bursts within a data region having the largest number of OFDMA symbol numbers and then reduces the OFDMA symbol numbers of the data region only when the data region with the smaller OFDMA symbol numbers has less number of unused slots.

  • Patent number: 8000282
Abstract: A method for transmitting a signal in a wireless network includes sending a first signal from a first source to a first intermediate station. A second signal is sent from a second source to a second intermediate station. The first signal is additionally received by the second intermediate station. The second signal is encoded according to dirty paper coding (DPC) such that the first signal does not interfere with the transmission of the second signal. The first signal is sent from the first intermediate station to a first destination and simultaneously, the DPC encoded second signal is sent from the second intermediate station to a second destination.
