  • Publication number: 20180222386
Abstract: A time to lane crossing that is a measure of a time for a vehicle to cross from a lane to another lane, is determined. A lane negotiation characteristic that is a measure of a mean vehicle offset front the lane, is determined. A first mechanism is actuated in a wearable device when the time to lane crossing is below a first threshold and the lane negotiation characteristic exceeds a second threshold. A second mechanism is actuated in the vehicle when a lane negotiation controller detects an imminent lane departure.

  • Publication number: 20160107646
Abstract: A vehicle includes a vehicle computing system (VCS) and an adaptive cruise control module, a lane departure warning (LDW) module, a navigation system, or an alert mechanism (e.g., audible, visual or tactile). The VCS communicates with an activity tracking device worn by a vehicle driver. The activity tracking device detects and records biometric characteristics of the driver, and is capable of exchanging data with the VCS. The VCS generates at least one output signal based on data from the activity tracking device. An adaptive cruise control module may increase the distance between the vehicle and a tracking vehicle based on the signal. A navigation system may generate a recommended parking location based on a difference between step goals and current steps detected by the activity tracking device.
