  • Publication number: 20100258977
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method for forming microporous and antimicrobial articles. The method comprises preparing an initial composition containing a semicrystalline polylactic acid material, a nonpolymeric aliphatic ester diluent, and a nucleating agent. The initial composition is heated to form a melt blended composition. Upon cooling, the melt blended composition phase separates into a composition having two continuous phases. A network of interconnected micropores may be formed by stretching the composition, by removing at least a portion of the nonpolymeric aliphatic ester diluent from the composition, or a combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20100240833
Abstract: A polylactic acid-containing resin composition that include (a) a polylactic acid and (b) a (meth)acrylic copolymer having a molecular weight in excess of 30,000 and that is the reaction product of a monomer mixture including a methyl (meth)acrylate (i) and a (meth)acrylic acid ester (ii) that is different than the methyl (meth)acrylate (i). The (meth)acrylic acid ester (ii) is represented by any one of formula (I): CH2?C(R1)—COO—R2 formula (II): CH2?C(R1)—COO—(CH2CH2O)m—R3, or formula (III): CH2?C(R1)—COO—(CH2CH2O)n-Ph. A method for preparing the (meth)acrylic copolymer is also provided as well as articles formed from polylactic acid-containing resin compositions.

  • Publication number: 20090018268
Abstract: A polylactic acid-containing resin composition including a polylactic acid (A), and a (meth)acrylic resin (B) having an alkyl (meth)acrylate constituent unit as a main component, wherein the (meth)acrylic resin (B) having a weight average molecular weight of more than 30,000 g/mole and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 10° C. or lower, and wherein the polylactic acid (A) and the (meth)acrylic resin (B) form a fine phase separation structure.

  • Publication number: 20080311332
Abstract: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for a removable pressure-sensitive adhesive tape which can be, after attaching to an adherend, easily removed from the adherend by stretching the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape and does not cause adhesive transfer on the adherend or damage of the adherend. A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprises a cohesive component comprising a styrene-based block copolymer, and a basic component.
