  • Patent number: 8491841
Abstract: An analytical combustion furnace has an input port for receiving a holder for an analytical sample. A purge block is coupled to the input port of the combustion furnace and has an input end for receiving the holder and a gas inlet and a gas outlet. A door selectively closes the input end of the purge block, and a pressurized seal is coupled between the purge block and the door. A source of purging gas is coupled to the gas inlet of the purge block for pressurizing the seal. The gas outlet of the purge block communicates with the seal to allow purging gas to escape the area of the seal. In one embodiment, a pressurized seal surrounds a push rod, which seal is pressurized by a purging gas to continuously purge the entry of the push rod into the purge block, thereby eliminating atmospheric contamination.

  • Patent number: 8213928
Abstract: A test apparatus and method are provided for testing interoperability of a first device to communicate with a second device via wireless communication. The test apparatus includes a wireless interface configured to interface via wireless communication with devices. The test apparatus also includes a processor, memory and logic stored in memory and executed by the processor. The logic causes the test apparatus to sequence through a plurality of wireless communication actions to communicate with a first device, monitor behavior of the first device during the actions, and store characteristics of the monitored behavior in memory so that the test apparatus may be used to emulate the first device when wirelessly communicating with a second device.

  • Publication number: 20100211708
Abstract: A converter and method for converting wirelessly streamed data to USB compatible data is provided. The converter includes a USB connector for interfacing with a first electronic device that is USB ready to provide USB compatible data, such as file and directory data structure. The converter also includes a wireless communication link that is adapted to receive wirelessly streamed data from a second electronic device. The converter further includes control circuitry for processing the wirelessly streamed data and converting the streamed data to USB compatible data that is compatible with the USB ready first electronic device such that the streamed data from the second electronic device may be used by the first electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7497991
Abstract: A reagent assembly for a combustion tube includes a reagent tube which is sealably and removably coupled to the open end of the combustion tube such that, when the reagent in the reagent tube is depleted, it can be easily removed without disassembly of the furnace or changing the combustion tube. The reagent tube includes a twist-lock cap to facilitate removal of the reagent tube.

  • Patent number: 6196635
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for installing a mine support (pillar, or pillar and grout bag) in a mine. The following are practiced: Locating a form in the mine where it is desired to provide support, the form being composed of a plurality of engaging parts shaped to produce a pillar when filled with a settable material, and the parts being disengageable to permit subsequent removal. Filling the form with a settable cementitous material and allowing the material to set to produce a pillar in the mine which is cuttable with a coal shearer. And, removing the form. When there is a gap between the top of the pillar and the roof of the mine a bag of yieldable grout is inserted in the gap. After use the support may be removed by cutting through the pillar and the bag of yieldable material, and the form may be reused to make a second pillar.
