Abstract: A system and method for the creation and distribution of customized electronic books which include source content from one or more disparate data sources. Multiple sets of rules can be utilized to filter the types of content to be included in the book as well as to customize the assembly and production of the book itself. The rules can be set by the user of the system or method, or by a company employing the user on a company-wide basis. The source materials for the book content include data provided by the system itself, data accessed from third parties, and data which is provided by the user. Once the topic and content for the book are selected by the user, the content is retrieved, formatted into a single format, assembled into a completed product per the applicable rules, and delivered to the user or a third party for printing. The user can email the book in electronic format to other locations or individuals, or print the completed book in hard copy format for review.
