Patent number: 8433318Abstract: In an embodiment, a wireless communications device (WCD) is provisioned with a plurality of subscriber identity modules (SIMs). The WCD determines a first set of bands (BAND1) that is associated with a first SIM and a second set of bands (BAND2) associated with a second SIM. In a first embodiment, the WCD generates a combined band for the first and second SIMs and then scans the combined band to detect a set of target networks for camping in association with at least the first and second SIMs. In a second embodiment, the WCD scans BAND1 to detect a first set of target networks for camping in association with the first SIM, and then excludes, from the BAND2, bands that overlap with BAND1. The WCD then scans the reduced BAND2 to detect to detect a second set of target networks for camping in association with the second SIM.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2011Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Sathish Krishnamoorthy, Uttam Pattanayak, Ajit Gupta, Suresh Sanka, Asimava Bera

Publication number: 20130090137Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for reducing page loss in a multiple subscription, multiple radio access wireless device, such as a dual SIM wireless device. The disclosed methodology and apparatus determine whether a conflict will arise between paging channel information received from at least two or more subscriptions from two or more radio access networks using a single receiver in the wireless device. The reception for paging channel information via the wireless receiver is switched to receive the paging channel information from a neighboring cell for one of the two subscriptions when a conflict is determined. By switching reception of paging channel information to another neighboring cell, the likelihood of page collisions between two subscriptions is reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2011Publication date: April 11, 2013Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Sathish Krishnamoorthy, Suresh Sanka, Ajit Gupta, Asimava Bera, Shivank Nayak, Uttam Pattanayak

Publication number: 20120178402Abstract: Mobile devices, such as a dual standby global phone, can have multiple subscriptions to access different radio access technologies, such as Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technologies. A selective scanning utility recognizes that emergency calls can be processed in any active subscription rather than being independently invoked to obtain a plurality of ways to make an emergency call. The utility limits service acquisition to just one of all active subscriptions in device, thereby achieving the objective of staying camped for limited service without needing to perform cell selection on emergency call origination on a secondary subscription at the cost of battery service. For single-radio devices, this solution also increases the availability of the first selected cell by avoiding the need to tune away for cell selection on the secondary subscription.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2011Publication date: July 12, 2012Inventors: Sathish Krishnamoorthy, Ajit Gupta, Uttam Pattanayak, Shivank Nayak, Suresh Sanka, Asimava Bera

Publication number: 20070174426Abstract: A content delivery and global traffic management network system provides a plurality of caching servers connected to a network. The caching servers host customer content that can be cached and stored, and respond to requests for Web content from clients. If the requested content does not exist in memory or on disk, it generates a request to an origin site to obtain the content. A DNS Server load balances network requests among customer Web servers and directs client requests for hosted customer content to the appropriate caching server. The customer pays a service that provides the content delivery and global traffic management network system a fee for usage of the content delivery and global traffic management network system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2007Publication date: July 26, 2007Inventors: Eric Swildens, Richard Day, Ajit Gupta

Publication number: 20050033858Abstract: A load balancing service for a plurality of customers performs load balancing among a plurality of customer Web servers. Requests for Web content are load balanced across the customer Web servers. The load balancing service provider charges a fee to the customers for the load balancing service. A caching service is also provided that comprises a plurality of caching servers connected to a network. The caching servers host customer content that can be cached and stored, e.g., images, video, text, and/or software. The caching servers respond to requests for Web content from clients.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2004Publication date: February 10, 2005Inventors: Eric Swildens, Richard Day, Ajit Gupta
