  • Patent number: 12645771
Abstract: In aspects of disabling two-factor authentication (2FA) in response to a trigger event, a mobile device detects a trigger event while 2FA is enabled on the mobile device. The trigger event may include or be an example of at least one of an error indication associated with a hardware component of the mobile device, user input indicating to disable the 2FA, or an emergency call initiated from the mobile device. In response to the trigger event, the mobile device disables the 2FA. The mobile device initiates a timer for operation in a single-factor authentication mode based on the 2FA being disabled. During operation in the single-factor authentication mode, the mobile device controls access to a functionality of the mobile device, such as by controlling access to at least one application of the mobile device. After expiry of the timer, the mobile device may re-enable the 2FA.

  • Publication number: 20260037609
Abstract: One or more of different types of authentication can be used to authenticate a user of an electronic device. Generally, the techniques discussed here describe using one type of authentication (single-factor authentication) in situations in which the electronic device is at a trusted location, and multiple types of authentication (e.g., multiple-factor authentication) in situations in which the electronic device is not at a trusted location (e.g., is at an untrusted location). If the electronic device is moved from a trusted location to a location that is not trusted while the electronic device is unlocked, the electronic device is locked to enforce multiple-factor authentication in the untrusted location.

  • Publication number: 20260025466
Abstract: An electronic device, a method, and a computer program product for authenticating a user before granting access to at least one incoming communication. The method includes detecting a trigger indicative of an incoming communication being received by the electronic device. In response to detecting the trigger, the method includes identifying if the incoming communication is a secure communication that requires authentication before access is granted. In response to identifying that the incoming communication is a secure communication that requires authentication before access is granted, the method includes disabling access to the incoming communication and presenting a prompt for entry of an authentication input. In response to receiving the authentication input, the method includes determining if the received authentication input matches reference authentication data.

  • Publication number: 20250390563
Abstract: A method includes detecting, by a processor of an electronic device, a transitioning of the electronic device into a second locked state that provides enhanced security by preventing background application access to at least one hardware component of the electronic device that has a corresponding hardware channel used by the background application to access the hardware component. The method includes, in response to detecting transitioning of the electronic device into the second locked state, de-activating a hardware channel associated each of with the at least one hardware component, the deactivation of the hardware channel preventing access by the one or more background applications to access the at least one hardware component including preventing receipt of inputs from at least one input device while the electronic device is in the second locked state.

  • Publication number: 20250138778
Abstract: In aspects of sound leak mitigation for a personal listening device, an audio source device, such as a mobile device, can include a device interface to connect the audio source device to a personal listening device for audio playback. The audio source device implements a sound leak mitigation module that detects the personal listening device connected to the audio source device via the device interface and can determine that the personal listening device exhibits sound leakage during the audio playback. The sound leak mitigation module can mitigate the sound leakage from the personal listening device during the audio playback.

  • Patent number: 10499314
Abstract: A mobile device system and related method are disclosed by which the device is able to communicate wirelessly not only via a Wide Area Network (WAN) link but also via an alternate link such as a Wi-Fi link. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a command from a remote server, via the WAN link, to establish a Wi-Fi link when possible. The method further includes, upon establishing the Wi-Fi link, sending a message for receipt by the server indicating that the Wi-Fi link has been established, and receiving software update information from the server, the information being communicated to the mobile device via the Wi-Fi link. Further, the method includes one or both of (1) sending an acknowledgement for receipt by the server indicating that the information has been received and (2) receiving an instruction from the server that communications via the Wi-Fi link be ended.

  • Patent number: 9794977
Abstract: A mobile device system and related method are disclosed by which the device is able to communicate wirelessly not only via a Wide Area Network (WAN) communication link but also via an alternate communication link such as a Wi-Fi communication link. In one embodiment, the method includes detecting an availability of an additional (alternate) communication link made possible via an access point (AP), determining whether one or more first criteria relating to one or both of the AP and the device have been met and, provided that the one or more first criteria are met, automatically launching a browser to communicate with one or both of the AP and a remote server. The method further includes determining based upon one or more interactions whether one or more second criteria have been met and, provided that the one or more second criteria are met, conducting communications via the additional communication link.
