Publication number: 20180185744Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods to apply computer capabilities to tabletop games including board games such as the game of chess. In one embodiment, a camera connected to smart glasses repeatedly feeds real-time images of a board game to a computer vision system that identifies the game, breaks the game board into elementary segments (e.g., individual squares), and identifies game pieces located on the segments. A game state may be determined by reference to a listing of pieces on each segment and a rule set. In addition, hints and/or other guidance may be provided to the player. Moreover, the game state may be described in a standard notation and/or may be transmitted to remote locations for use by other players.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2016Publication date: July 5, 2018Inventors: Karthik Veeramani, William J. Patent number: 9172528Abstract: A method, apparatus and system enabling software access to navigational data in a decrypted media stream while protecting stream payloads. In one embodiment, a filter may route an encrypted content stream and associated information to a secure partition having a trusted computing component for decryption. Upon decryption, the trusted computing component may store the decrypted payload of the content in a secure storage location accessible to the trusted computing component. Thereafter, the decrypted navigational header information of the content may be used to navigate to the decrypted content via a trusted component such as a trusted rendering unit in the secure partition.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2014Date of Patent: October 27, 2015Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Richard Maliszewski, Keith L. Publication number: 20140380046Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a collaborative streaming system for protected media. A presentation device may interact with a group of trusted devices over a network to stream multimedia content. The presentation device may obtain a presentation content encryption key for presenting the content. Each trusted device in a group of trusted devices may obtain a download content encryption key allowing for download without presentation. A leader may be selected for managing the operation of the trusted devices. The leader may determine trusted device condition and assign one or more of the trusted devices to download portions of the content based on the condition. The leader may then consolidate the portions of the content and provide them to the presentation device. If the presentation device is the leader, the presentation device may perform similar operations and collect the portions of the content directly from the group of trusted devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2013Publication date: December 25, 2014Inventors: Rajesh Poornachandran, Yeugeniy Epshteyn, Michael D. Patent number: 8499090Abstract: A hybrid system and method for delivering “streaming” media within the home. According to the method, small portions of media items from a controlling device are received at a rendering device for pre-caching into a cache. Upon a user selecting a media item for playback, play of the media item is immediately started from the cache in real-time while the remaining portions of the selected media item are downloaded from the controlling device and appended to cache at a rate faster than real-time.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2008Date of Patent: July 30, 2013Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Kenneth L. Knowlson, Gamil A. Cain, Ajit P. Joshi, Jason Hongfeng Wang

Patent number: 7570766Abstract: Systems, methods, and data structures for transparently embedding non-compliant data in a data stream are described. One method includes embedding random encryption/decryption information into an MEPG multimedia, video, or audio stream transparently to an MPEG decoder in an ISO/MPEG 13818-1 compliant system to control access. The invention works for variable length data streams and involves a PES header. Spare bytes, stuffing bytes, or additional bytes as defined in the MPEG specification for PES headers are used to store key information by a computer capable of modifying the original data stream. There is no need for a parallel data stream for the key information because the key information is transparently inserted directly into the data stream. Additional information is embedded into the data stream that can be used for encryption/decryption without having to modify other components in a playback system.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2002Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Richard P. Mangold, Keith L. Shippy, Ajit P. Joshi

Patent number: 7328455Abstract: An apparatus and method for enabling secure content decryption within a set-top box are described. The method includes performance of security authentication of a content driver by a content decryption component. Security authentication is performed in order to verify an identity of the content driver as a secure content driver. Next, the content decryption component receives an encrypted content stream from the secure content driver. Once received, the content decryption component performs integrity authentication of a run-time image of the secure content driver. Finally, while integrity authentication of the secure content driver is verified, the content decryption component streams decrypted content to the secure content driver to enable playback of the decrypted content to a user.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2001Date of Patent: February 5, 2008Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Curtis E. Jutzi, Richard P. Mangold, Ajit P. Joshi

Patent number: 7139470Abstract: Navigation information can be generated from compressed and packetized MPEG streams, and the navigation information then placed in a separate navigation file that can be accessed to permit navigation functions to be performed during decompression and playback of the MPEG stream. An authoring tool may be used to parse the MPEG stream and generate the navigation data. The navigation data may then be used to select individual start points, different audio channels, special effects, etc., during playback.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: November 21, 2006Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Alex A. Lopez-Estrada, Jeffery S. Peel, Ajit P. Joshi
