  • Publication number: 20230348798
Abstract: An improved process and catalyst system for making a base oil product and for improving base oil cloud point and pour point characteristics, while also providing good product yields. The process and catalyst system generally involves the use of a layered catalyst system comprising an SSZ-91 catalyst and an SSZ-32X catalyst arranged to sequentially contact a hydrocarbon feedstock with both catalysts and thereby provide dewaxed base oil products.

  • Patent number: 9482631
Abstract: A core sample holder assembly for performing a laboratory magnetic resonance measurement of a core sample taken from a hydrocarbon containing formation is provided. The assembly comprises a pressure chamber provided by a hull and one or more flanges are sealingly coupled with the hull. A flexible core sample holder sleeve is arranged within the pressure chamber and is sealingly coupled with at least one of the flanges. An overburden fluid injection port is in fluid communication with an annular space between the hull and the flexible sleeve and is configured to inject overburden fluid into an annular space between the hull and the flexible sleeve. A pressure regulator is configured to maintain the overburden fluid in the annular space at an elevated pressure. A radio-frequency antenna, within the pressure chamber and wrapped around the sample holder sleeve, is configured to receive an electromagnetic-signal from the core sample. In use, the core sample is arranged substantially within the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 8124823
Abstract: A process for producing a jet fuel, comprising contacting an olefin and an isoparaffin with an unsupported catalyst system comprising an ionic liquid catalyst and a halide containing additive in an alkylation zone under alkylation conditions to make an alkylate product, and recovering the jet fuel from the alkylate product, wherein the jet fuel has a NMR branching index greater than 60 and meets the boiling point, flash point, smoke point, heat of combustion, and freeze point requirements for Jet A-1 fuel. Also a process for producing a jet fuel, comprising providing a feed produced in a FC cracker comprising olefins, mixing the feed with an isoparaffin, alkylating the mixed feed in an ionic liquid alkylation zone, and separating the jet fuel from the alkylated product.

  • Patent number: 6685889
Abstract: Photochemical catalysts and methods for their manufacture and use are provided. In one aspect of the invention, a photochemical catalyst includes an optical microfiber coated with a catalytic amount of a molecular sieve, such as a zeolite. In one preferred form, at least a portion of the outer surface of the optical microfiber is cladding-free to allow radial transmission of light to the molecular sieve coating. In another aspect of the invention, a method of making a photochemical catalyst is provided that includes depositing a catalytic amount of a molecular sieve onto an outer surface of an optical microfiber, wherein the optical microfiber is configured to transmit light to the molecular sieve. A method of photocatalysis utilizing the above-described photocatalysts includes exposing the photocatalyst and a reactant to a light source to photocatalytically react the reactant.
