The user entity uses an access identifier for its identification in the wireless access network. The access identifier is not used in the mobile communications network to identify a subscriber. A request message is received in which access to the wireless access network is requested. The request message contains an MAC address of the requesting user entity. The MAC address is converted into a sequence of digits used as a mobile subscriber identifier with which the user entity is identified in the mobile communications network and a response message is transmitted accepting the access to the packet core network. The response message includes the sequence of digits used as mobile subscriber identifier.

    Abstract: A method of forming an amorphous carbon (aC) layer as a barrier layer for preventing etching of metals in a dual damascene metallization process and the resulting device are provided. Embodiments include forming an inter-layer dielectric (ILD) layer over a substrate with the first ILD having recesses for a first metallization layer. Then forming a TaN barrier layer and Co liner in the recesses, filling the recesses with a metal, forming a Co cap layer over the metal and forming a conformal aC layer over the substrate are accomplished. Furthermore, an Nblock layer, an ILD layer and a metal hard mask layer completes the stack on top to the aC layer. Subsequently, the embodiments include etching vias through this stack down to the aC layer, thereby protecting the first metallized layer.

A measuring unit is operatively associated with the receiver for measuring electrical characteristics of the received pilot signals. A controller is operatively associated with the measuring unit and uses the measured electrical characteristics to identify a service affecting condition. The subscriber modem pilot signals include differential mode signals and the measuring unit measures common mode of each wire of the subscriber line. By using combinations of measurements and deductive logic, the system can detect one or more service affecting conditions.
