    Abstract: A road grading pick includes a cutting head, a shank, a shoulder at a transition between the cutting head and the shank, and a polygonal-shaped washer or an oval-shaped washer. The shank is positioned in an opening of the washer to position the washer along a longitudinal length of the shank between a rearward end of the shank and the rearward facing surface of the shoulder. In a preinstalled position, the washer compresses a friction retainer on the shank of the road grading pick to facilitate seating of the road grading pick in a blade of a road grading apparatus. In an installed position on an adapter board for a moldboard of road grading equipment, the friction retainer is no longer in the opening of the washer and the washer prevents washer rotation and shields an underlying mounting surface while allowing rotation of the road grading pick.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for reversing the driving direction of a vehicle in motion, in which a movement of a gear selector to a position that indicates the new intended driving direction is detected (12). After the gear selector has assumed the new driving direction position, the vehicle's driving brakes are applied (14) depending upon the depression of the vehicle's gas pedal. The driving brakes (10) are applied proportionally to a change in position of the gas pedal. A speed of the engine (1) of the vehicle is increased with increased depression of the gas pedal. A gearbox (2) of the vehicle is disconnected (13) from the vehicle's engine (1) when the gear selector is detected to have been moved to the reverse driving direction position. A change (15) in the gearbox is effected from the current gear position to a position that indicates the selected gear for driving in the reverse direction after disconnection (13) of the vehicle's gearbox (2) from the vehicle's engine (1).

    Abstract: A stump cutter includes a rotary drum, holders mounted on the drum, and cutting bits mounted in respective bores of each holder for rotation relative thereto. Each cutting bit includes a shank having a pocket formed in a front end thereof in which the cutting tip is brazed, wherein an outer lip of the shank tightly grips an outer side surface of the cutting tip with a thermal shrink fit. The cutting tip includes a circular cutting edge formed by the intersection between portions of the front surface and side surface of the cutting tip, which surface portions intersect at a ninety degree angle. The front surface of the cutting tip includes raised radial ribs spaced circumferentially therearound for inducing rotation of the cutting bit during a cutting operation.

For supplying sufficient heat-energy to the front and rear parts of the car, special reflectors are located in front of and behind the car for reflecting heat-radiation from the carrier.
