The user token server generates a random token in response to a request for a new password from a user. The server creates a new password by concatenating a secret passcode that is known to the user with the token. The server sets the password associated with the user's user ID to be the new password. The communication module transmits the token to a personal communication device, such as a mobile phone or a pager carried by the user. The user concatenates the secret passcode with the received token in order to form a valid password, which the user submits to gain access to the secure system. Accordingly, access to the system is based upon: nonsecret information known to the user, such as the user ID; secret information known to the user, such as the passcode; and information provided to the user through an object possessed by the user, such as the token.

    Abstract: A sewing machine including a needle being supplied with an upper thread, a loop taker which accommodates a bobbin for a bottom thread. and a drive unit, which forces the needle to perform a reciprocating movement. A take-up lever, for each stitch, pulls tight a knot being formed in the sewing material by the upper thread and the bottom thread in cooperation. The sewing machine further includes a thread transfer member supplying the needle with an upper thread with either a thread portioner or a friction braking assembly for friction braking of the upper thread. A switch switches between thread supply with the thread portioner or with the friction braking assembly. A control unit controls the thread supply from the thread portioner or, alternatively, controls the friction braking assembly.

    Abstract: In a plate heat exchanger having a frame plate and a pressure plate, at least one of these plates has holes for flow of the heat exchanging media to and from respective passages in the pack of heat exchange plates. Each of these holes has a lining of corrosion-resistant metal comprising a hollow cylinder with thin flanges at its opposite ends engaging opposite sides of the frame plate or pressure plate. One of these flanges has a seamless connection with the hollow cylinder and is sealingly compressed between a heat exchange plate and an undepressed surface of the inner side of the adjacent frame plate or pressure plate. Lining of the hole is effected by plastically deforming a metal disc into a hollow cylinder with a flange at one end, inserting the other end of the cylinder through the hole to engage the flange with said undepressed surface, and then providing said other end of the cylinder with a flange engaging an undepressed surface of the outer side of the frame or pressure plate.
