  • Patent number: 5309882
Abstract: A control system for the ignition system of an internal combustion engine for providing faster idle speed when the engine is at a low temperature by advancing the spark timing. A first temperature sensor which senses actual temperature is mounted in the engine ignition control circuit which is, in turn, mounted in proximity to the engine so as to approximate its temperature. A on/off temperature switch is mounted directly in the engine so as to sense when engine temperature is above a predetermined value. The system is operative to provide ignition control by the actual engine temperature unless the second on/off switch is turned on to indicate that the engine temperature has not returned ambient temperature after a running period. If the engine temperature switch is on, normal ignition timing is employed.

  • Patent number: 5197430
Abstract: A temperature compensated ignition control device for advancing ignition timing during low temperature operation of the engine wherein the temperature sensor may be mounted at any number of locations as long as the temperature it senses at the start of the engine is the same as the actual temperature at the time of engine starting. The ignition advance is determined based on the temperature sensed at the start of the engine and a preprogrammed relationship between the sensed temperature where the sensor is located and the actual engine temperature at predetermined time periods after the start of the engine and igniton timing control characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5018503
Abstract: A fuel increasing system for an internal combustion engine having a normal charge forming system with a plurality of carburetors. A supplemental fuel supplying system is incorporated that draws fuel from the fuel bowl of one of the carburetors to a supplemental fuel pump which, in turn, delivers fuel under pressure to a pressure regulating valve which regulates pressure by discharging excess fuel back to the fuel bowl from which it is drawn. The discharge of supplemental fuel to the engine is controlled by individual supplemental fuel control valves mounted on each of the carburetors.

  • Patent number: 4787868
Abstract: An outboard drive having an improved arrangement for absorbing torsional vibrations and isolating the drive shaft from them. Several embodiments of torsional vibration dampers are disclosed each of which includes a first member that is detachably connected to the drive shaft and an inertial member that is coupled to the first member. In some embodiments, this coupling is achieved by an elastomeric sleeve and in others it is achieved by means of a viscous fluid.
