  • Publication number: 20090201558
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a memory that has a first storage area for storing a control program and a second storage area for storing image data and operates in a normal mode and a self-refresh mode. The image forming apparatus stores the control program in the first storage area to set the first storage area in the self-refresh mode, when the power saving mode, stores image data which is stored in the second storage area, in the storage medium to set the second storage area in a dormant state, when the storage medium is connected to a main body in the power saving mode, and sets at least a bank of the second storage area in which the image data is stored, in the self-refresh mode and sets the remaining bank in the dormant state, when the storage medium is not connected to the main body in the power saving mode.

  • Publication number: 20070292155
Abstract: There is provided a temperature control technique capable of satisfactorily reducing the flicker level in a fixing device using a plurality of heater lamps. Two heater lamps for heating a heat roller 10 are provided inside the heat roller 10. One is a heater lamp 11 for mainly heating the center area of the heat roller 10, and the other is a heater lamp 12 having heat supply characteristics to mainly heat both end areas of the heat roller 10. A controller 21 controls the lighting timing of the heater lamps to obtain optimum lighting timing both in the copying time and stand-by time.

  • Patent number: 6307579
Abstract: A first polygonal motor correction value and a first drum motor correction value are provided to the polygonal motor and the photosensitive drum motor so that an image formed by a printer unit has a 100% magnification on the basis of data provided from a reference pattern generating unit which generates an ideal pattern data having no magnification error. Next, a document, on which a predetermined pattern is printed, is scanned by a scanner unit, and then, a second polygonal motor correction value and a carriage motor correction value are provided to the polygonal motor and the carriage motor so that an image printed using the printer unit has a 100% magnification.

  • Patent number: 6075953
Abstract: An image forming apparatus supporting system includes a first control unit to perform a series of controls relative to the main body that performs the image forming operation; a program storage memory connected to the first control unit via an address bus and a data bus; a non-volatile memory to store maintenance data relative to the main body and an interface circuit that enables the interface between the non-volatile memory and an external device. Further, this system includes a second control unit that controls the main body so that maintenance data can be transmitted from a non-volatile memory to the external device via the interface circuit according to input/output items designated by the external device when the first control unit is not performing the control of the image forming operation in the main body.

  • Patent number: 5862429
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a subunit. The subunit includes a non-volatile RAM which previously stores data items corresponding to ID information used in the manufacturing process of parts constructing the image forming apparatus, ID information of the main body of the image forming apparatus, history information of the parts used at the time of service operation and maintenance information. A support tool is connected to a communication I/F in the manufacturing process and at the time of service operation, and necessary information stored in the non-volatile RAM is read out in response to a readout instruction from the support tool and displayed on the display screen of the support tool. Data corresponding to ID information of the part incorporated in the manufacturing process and data corresponding to service information in the service operation are stored in a preset storage area of the non-volatile RAM.

  • Patent number: 4998138
Abstract: A microfilm reader-printer which permits the setting of the number of pages of printing which exceeds a maximum number of pages of continuous printings of the printer body. The printer body outputs a completion signal to a device which sets the number of pages of printing when printing is completed. The device sends a print request signal to the printer body every time it receives a complete signal until completion of printing for the set number of pages. The printer body completes the printing operation once for each maximum continuous number of pages of printing, but resumes printing if a print request signal is outputted successively. In addition, positive and negative developers are both attached to the image forming apparatus prior to reception of a developer selecting signal.
