  • Patent number: 4799304
Abstract: A method for automatically assembling a wheel for a bicycle comprising:aligning spokes mounted on a hub;leasing the aligned spokes to form an assembly;transferring the assembly of hub and leased spokes to a device for loosely tightening said leased spokes;loosely tightening the spokes of the assembly of the hub and leased spokes; andfastening the loosely tightened spokes to complete the tightening of the loosely tightened spokes. In the aligning of the spokes the spaces between spokes are precisely retained. The leasing is carried out by a single touch operation. In transferring the assembly of hub and leased spokes to a temporary tightening device the assembled is maintained in its pretransfer position. Due to the temporarily tightening of the spokes, the final fastening may precisely tension the spokes between the hub and the rim.
