  • Patent number: 8369801
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a multimode polar modulation device and a multimode radio communication method for making it possible to decrease the distortion compensation processing data capacity while maintaining the distortion compensation accuracy and also making it possible to efficiently store the distortion compensation processing data corresponding to a multimode modulation signal adaptively acquired in memory. At the distortion compensation coefficient calibration operation time of a polar modulation circuit 1901, a control section 1903 selects a modulation signal with a narrower dynamic range of amplitude signal than at the transmission operation time, an adaptive operation control section 1711 measures a spectrum in output of a power amplifier 1 for each predetermined output level, and a distortion compensation processing circuit 1701 finds optimum coefficient information.

  • Patent number: 8355748
Abstract: The overall throughput of the radio communication traffic in a radio communication area in a radio communication environment where a plurality of types of radio communication systems are mixedly used in a neighboring radio communication area is improved. When a multi-mode control station (101) performs communication with a terminal station in a network through a plurality of types of communication systems, a communication link parameter collecting section (10141) collects parameters indicating the states of the communication links. A resource allocation determining section (10143) determines communication resource allocation for which the throughput is the greatest for each resource allocation period according to the parameters. A communication control section (1015) controls a multi-mode communication unit (1012) according to the result of the determination.

  • Patent number: 8346293
Abstract: There are provided a plurality of systems of reconfigurable radio processing unit (102) whose function and performance can be modified. A control unit (104) collects quality information on the communication link in communication methods received at respective radio processing systems (102a, 102b). According to this, the control unit (104) selects an optimal communication method and transmission mode from a plurality of communication methods and transmission modes (for example, diversity transmission between a plurality of systems, diversity transmission by a single communication method, and MIMO channel multiplex transmission). By modifying configurations of the reconfigurable radio processing unit (102) according to the selected communication method and transmission mode, it is possible to communicate at a desired transmission mode. Thus, it is possible to perform an optimal transmission to the communication link according to the quality condition and other request condition.

  • Publication number: 20120307936
Abstract: Modulated signal A is transmitted from a first antenna, and modulated signal B is transmitted from a second antenna. As modulated signal B, modulated symbols S2(i) and S2(i+1) obtained from different data are transmitted at time i and time i+1 respectively. In contrast, as modulated signal A, modulated symbols S1(i) and S1(i)? obtained by changing the signal point arrangement of the same data are transmitted at time i and time i+1 respectively. As a result the reception quality can be changed intentionally at time i and time i+1, and therefore using the demodulation result of modulated signal A of a time when the reception quality is good enables both modulated signals A and B to be demodulated with good error rate performances.

  • Publication number: 20120236962
Abstract: A transmitting apparatus, includes a signal generator that generates a modulation signal by modulating transmission data using one of a plurality of modulation schemes, a first modulation scheme having a higher m-ary modulation value than other modulation schemes and a pilot signal generator generates a pilot signal. An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal generator generates an OFDM signal by selecting the modulation signal and the pilot signal according to the frame timing signal. The OFDM signal is converted to a radio signal, is amplified and is transmitted to an antenna. The pilot signal is inserted in the OFDM signal per a predetermined OFDM symbol and per a predetermined subcarrier and has a lower amplitude than a maximum amplitude of the first modulation scheme in an in-phase-quadrature (IQ) plane.
