  • Patent number: 6825944
Abstract: The printer driver, a program to be executed by the host, upon receiving a print request, requests the printer to send the calibration information, stores the calibration information transferred from the printer and generates a correction table based on the calibration information stored. By referring the correction table the printer driver corrects the print data to generate a print job of binary data and sends the print job to the printer. In a configuration in which the host corrects the print data and sends the corrected print data to the printer, efficient and precise calibration can be carried out without the user taking much time and trouble.

  • Patent number: 6473586
Abstract: In a two-component developing unit, by devising the layout of magnetic poles 6 (particularly a pickup magnetic pole 6b and a trimming magnetic pole 6c) of a magnet member 5 arranged inside a developer carrier 3, an excess portion of a developer G picked up onto the surface of the developer carrier 3 is allowed to drop in the vicinity of the height of the rotational center O of the developer carrier 3, and only the developer G restricted to a predetermined layer thickness is carried and transported to a development region m. A charging member 9 is disposed over a periphery of the developer carrier 3, as required. In addition, the layout of the magnetic poles 6 of the magnet member 5 arranged inside the developer carrier 3 is set variably between the time of development and the time of nondevelopment, and the amount of developer carried on the surface of the developer carrier and transported to the development region m is set to substantially zero at the time of nondevelopment.

  • Patent number: 6447184
Abstract: A networked printing system has the capability of selecting a particular paper feeding slot of a printer by designating a paper name assigned to that particular paper feeding slot. Thus, an optimum printing operation is performed by the printer assigned that paper name. A controller communicates with the respective printers and produces a paper name information table. A paper name list is then produced according to this paper name information table. In accordance with the paper name list, a list of selectable paper names is displayed on a printing operation control screen. If a particular paper name is selected by a user from this list, then a printer assigned the selected paper name is retrieved from the paper name information table, and the retrieve printer is employed as the destination to which printing information is output.

  • Patent number: 6293714
Abstract: Print data is stored into a spool device and a predetermined number of copies are printed. A size (ADsize) of print data is compared with a memory capacity (SDsize) of the spool device. When the size of print data exceeds a capacity of the spool device, the print data is divided into a plurality of print jobs on a page unit basis so that the print data lies within the memory capacity. The number of copies is designated for each of the divided print jobs, the print jobs are sequentially stored into the spool device, and the designated number of copies of each print job are printed, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6160968
Abstract: When data of one page is output for a predetermined amount, the host unit performs division of the printing data into a plurality of divided jobs a predetermined calibration on the basis of the calibration execution. For every divided job, the most recent calibration information from a printer-side is obtained. On the basis of the obtained calibration information, a density correction value of a .gamma. correction table is updated. Then, the .gamma. correction table performed calibration is used for performing printing of the divided jobs. By this, the printing apparatus performs a printing operation according to the printing job output from the host unit to enable appropriate calibration when a large amount is printed for the same information.

  • Patent number: 4662311
Abstract: A device for developing an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive layer. The developing device comprises a doner roll for supporting a uniform layer of single-component developing material adjacent to the photoconductive layer. The doner roll is disposed as to create a space gap between the photoconductive layer and the doner roll. The doner roll is made of semiconductive material having a specific resistance ranging from 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.12 .OMEGA.cm. An electrical bias potential is applied across the gap, thereby establishing a field for transferring the developing material from the doner roll to the photoconductive layer.
