  • Patent number: 9122416
Abstract: Each actual page inside a pool is configured from a plurality of actual tracks, and each virtual page inside a virtual volume is configured from a plurality of virtual tracks. A storage control apparatus of a mainframe system has management information that includes information denoting a track in which there exists a user record, which is a record including user data (the data used by a host apparatus of a mainframe system). Based on the management information, a controller identifies an actual page that is configured only from tracks that do not comprise the user record, and cancels the allocation of the identified actual page to the virtual page.

  • Publication number: 20140244934
Abstract: [Object] A storage apparatus capable of preventing degradation of processing performance when transferring data of a record format to a main frame is proposed. [Solution] When data designated by a read request from a main frame is stored in a cache memory, a transfer control unit refers to internal control information, identifies the length of a key area and the length of a data area of the data designated by the read request, calculates an address of the data, which is designated by the read request, in the cache memory based on the identified length of the key area, the identified length of the data area, and the length of a count area which is a fixed length, and controls processing for collectively transferring the data, which is stored at the calculated address in the cache memory, from the cache memory to a channel adapter.

  • Patent number: 8719496
Abstract: A storage apparatus includes a microprocessor package configured to access a logical volume and a local memory in the microprocessor package. An input/output (I/O) request range of one I/O request, including a start position address and an end position address of the logical volume which is a target of the one I/O request, is stored in the local memory. A counter value indicating a number of I/O requests to and from the logical volume associated with the one I/O request is acquired and stored in the local memory. If the counter value associated with the one I/O request is greater than the counter value associated with another I/O request, the I/O request ranges of the one I/O request and the other I/O request are compared. If there is no overlap between the I/O request ranges, the one I/O request is executed; otherwise, the one I/O request is placed on standby.
