Publication number: 20110073995Abstract: In a semiconductor device, a YAG substrate is formed as a single-crystal substrate of any of surface orientations (100), (110), and (111). In the fabrication of the semiconductor device, a TMAl gas is first fed onto the YAG substrate so as to form a nucleation layer made of aluminum, which is a group-III element. Then, an NH3 gas is fed onto the nucleation layer. This turns the surface of the nucleation layer into a group-V element and then forms a group-III-V compound layer of AlN. Then, a mixed gas of TMAl gas and NH3 gas is fed onto the group-III-V compound layer so as to form another group-III-V compound layer. Finally, a group-III nitride semiconductor layer is crystal-grown on the group-III compound layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2010Publication date: March 31, 2011Applicants: KOITO MANUFACTURING CO., LTD., TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCEInventors: Akihiro Nomura, Kazuhiro Ohkawa, Akira Hirako

Patent number: 5277243Abstract: Apparatus for casting metal strip in which molten metal is introduced between a pair of parallel casting rollers (16) via a tundish (18) and metal delivery nozzle (19). Casting rollers (16) are cooled so that shells solidify on the moving roller surfaces and are brought together at the nip between them to produce a solidified strip product (20) at the roller outlet. The tundish (18), delivery nozzle (19) and a pair of side closure plates (56) to confine the pool of metal on the casting rollers are separately preheated to working temperature and then rapidly brought into an operative assembly and casting is started before detrimental uneven or localized cooling of the preheated components can develop. To this end the casting rollers are mounted on a carriage (13) movable between a first station (14) at which the preheated components are fitted and a second station (15) at which casting is carried out.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1992Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignees: Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Company Limited, John Lysaght (Australia) LimitedInventors: Hisahiko Fukase, Heiji Kato, Akihiro Nomura

Patent number: 5128727Abstract: There is provided an image forming apparatus such as a copying apparatus having a sensor to detect the front edge of an original and a sensor to detect the front edge of a paper onto which a copy image of the original is formed, in which the copying operation is started in accordance with the result of the detections by both sensors. A distance which is obtained by adding a distance from an exposing position of a photosensitive drum and a distance from an original feed roller to an exposing position is equalized to a distance from the copy transfer position of the photosensitive drum to a paper feed roller. If such distances differ, the feeding timing of the original or paper is delayed in accordance with the difference between those distances. Thus, the cheap and small copying apparatus can be realized without using an expensive control system such as a registration roller.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1991Date of Patent: July 7, 1992Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasuo Miyauchi, Akihiro Nomura

Patent number: 5123060Abstract: Experiential gradation correction curves for sample images are prepared. By analyzing the experiential gradation correction curves and accumulated density histograms of the sample images, two points (Y.sub.1, Q.sub.1) and (Y.sub.2, Q.sub.2) are specified, where Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 are values of accumulated occurrence and Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.2 are halftone dot percentages for image reproduction. The values Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 through an accumulated density histogram of an original image whose gradation is to be corrected. A gradation correction curve Q=G(x) is determined so as to pass through the two points (x.sub.1, Q.sub.1) and (x.sub.2, Q.sub.2).Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1991Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Dainippon Screen Mfg. Patent number: 5053888Abstract: Highlight density (X.sub.H) (or shadow density) is established on the basis of a cumlative histogram (H(X)) of density of an original. Computed first are reference densities (X.sub.HR, X.sub.HL and X.sub.Hl -X.sub.Hn) associated with prescribed reference statistic values (Y.sub.HR, Y.sub.HL and Y.sub.Hl -Y.sub.Hn), respectively, and threshold values (W.sub.Hl -W.sub.Hn). Then, the reference density (X.sub.HR) is compared with a prescribed threshold density (X.sub.HS), and a difference (X.sub.Hi) concerning the reference density (X.sub.Hi) is compared with the threshold value (W.sub.Hi) in a procedure, to thereby select one of procedures for establishing the highlight density.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1989Date of Patent: October 1, 1991Assignee: Dainippon Screen Mfg.
