  • Patent number: 6738521
Abstract: A CPU reads out image data from a memory and sets the image data of a trial line number in a coding amount estimation device. The coding amount estimation device refers to a parameter table, generates coding parameters formed by combining parameters, and sets the coding parameters in a coder. The coding amount estimation device causes the coder to execute JBIG coding of the image data of the trial line number and estimates a coding amount. When there remains no untried parameter combination from the parameter table, the coding amount estimation device sets the coding parameters, which provide a minimum coding amount, in the coder as optimal coding parameters. After the optimal coding parameters have been set in the coder, the CPU reads out image data of all lines from the memory and causes the coder to execute JBIG coding.

  • Publication number: 20030120475
Abstract: When a function design has been carried out by an RTL description using an HDL language, a CPU of an integrated circuit design support apparatus writes data such as a simulation time, a layout area, a timing and a power consumption into a header portion of the RTL description. The CPU stores, as one file, the RTL description comprising the header portion serving as a reuse design database, and an entity portion, in a hard disk drive.

  • Patent number: 5024197
Abstract: An engine idling control apparatus, which has a throttle position sensor for detecting an opening degree of the throttle valve, and an idle switch for changing a state thereof at a predetermined throttle opening degree near a fully closed state of the throttle valve, comprises; a circuit for judging the state of the idle switch responsive to output from the idle switch; a circuit for updating a minimum value of output values from the throttle position sensor; a circuit for updating an increase compensation value to increase when the idle switch state judging circuit judges closed state of the idle switch, and for updating the increase compensation value to initialize when the idle switch state judging circuit judges open state of the idle switch; a circuit for setting a reference value to judge an idling state by adding the increase compensation value from the increase compensation value updating circuit and a predetermined offset value to the minimum value from the minimum value updating circuit; and a circu

  • Patent number: 4978850
Abstract: An optical sensor system comprising a measuring head, a light source and a light detector which are connected to each other via flexible optical fiber cables. Since the measuring head may be made lightweight and vibration of the measuring head may be insulated from the light source and the light detector by the optical fiber cables, even when the object to be measured consists of a vibrating object, a high level of accuracy can be attained. In particular, if the measuring head comprises a coaxial light projector and light receiver, it can be designed as a highly compact structure which is highly resistant to vibrations. The measurement by the measuring head may be based on the use of the light receiver for the detection of fluorescent light produced from the object to be measured as a result of light radiation from the light projector.

  • Patent number: 4133324
Abstract: Spark timing control apparatus for an internal combustion engine having a throttle controlled intake passage for an air-fuel mixture. A vehicle is powered by the engine. A vacuum line from the intake passage downstream from the throttle valve is connected to a three-way valve which, in turn, has one conduit connected to a spark advance chamber and another conduit connected to a spark retard chamber. Another valve closes the vacuum line when the engine temperature is low. An electrical switch sensitive to velocity of the vehicle actuates the three-way valve electromagnetically to connect the vacuum line to either of said chambers for actuating a movable member which controls the ignition timing of the engine. The conduit leading to the spark retard chamber also leads to a vacuum chamber in an additional fuel supply system having a valve, so that when the spark is retarded the additional fuel supply is cut off.

  • Patent number: 4131092
Abstract: An internal combustion piston engine has a main combustion chamber supplied with a lean mixture and an auxiliary combustion chamber supplied with a rich mixture. A spark plug ignites a mixture in the auxiliary chamber to project a flame through a torch passage into the main chamber. Walls in the underside of the stationary head of the engine form a flame guide channel diverging from the torch passage toward intake and exhaust valves which are located equidistantly from the torch passage. The torch passage may comprise an elongated slot or a pair of spaced openings.

  • Patent number: 4094276
Abstract: The intake manifold for supplying air-fuel mixture from a single source to a plurality of cylinders of an internal combustion engine employs individual pipes all having the same cross sectional area but having different non-circular cross sectional contours. Where less fuel is needed at low engine speed and power output, the bottom half of each intake pipe is formed with a smaller internal radius of curvature than the top half. Where more fuel is needed at low engine speed and power output, the bottom half of each pipe is formed with a larger internal radius of curvature than the top half. The purpose is to better equalize the distribution of fuel to the cylinders under low speed and low power operation of the engine, without affecting fuel distribution at higher engine speeds.

  • Patent number: 4016844
Abstract: A spark advance and retard system for an automobile engine advances the spark timing when the automobile is cruising, and retards the spark timing when the automobile is idling, accelerating or decelerating. A device which detects cruising of the automobile employs three electrical switches connected in series: the first is opened by actuation of the automobile brake pedal, the second is closed by actuation of the accelerator pedal, and the third is closed by high vacuum conditions in the engine intake system. When all three switches have been closed for a predetermined time interval, a timer device actuated electrically controlled valves to cause a pneumatic operator to advance the spark timing.
