Patent number: 5539647Abstract: A vehicle navigation system automatically corrects the coefficient of its velocity sensor with high precision. This system obtains a distance between two positions measured by a GPS and a linear travel distance calculated on the basis of the signals outputted by the velocity sensor during a period between the measurement of the two positions. Then, the system corrects the velocity sensor coefficient so that the linear travel distance becomes equal to the distance between the two positions.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1995Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akihito Shibata, Hiroaki Tsuji, Yoichiro Suga

Patent number: 5383127Abstract: High degree of accuracy of the position of a vehicle can be ensured by maintaining the continuity of the running path of the vehicle and by correcting the vehicle position to a vehicle position measured by a GPS navigation system when a positional deviation occurs due to sensor errors. Specifically, the vehicle positions are estimated in accordance with signals from sensors for detecting behaviors of the vehicle, and then the vehicle position is shifted onto a designated road having a feature coincident with that of the running path of the vehicle based upon data of the estimated vehicle positions. Further, the vehicle position is corrected to a position measured by use of a GPS receiver only when the cumulative value of distances of the positional shifts made by a number of cycles in past or in a predetermined running distance range exceeds a predetermined threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1992Date of Patent: January 17, 1995Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventor: Akihito Shibata

Patent number: 5337243Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide precise calculation of a position and an orientation of a vehicle running or moving on route. Regarding the vehicle moving along a given route and with possible variations in the running orientation it is judged that the vehicle has moved substantially on a straight line when an integrated value of the orientation variations is smaller than a predetermined value. By obtaining a regression line of GPS receiving positions in the straight line, a precise orientation of the vehicle is obtained by adding a difference between the orientations of the straight line and the regression line to an original orientation of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1991Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akihito Shibata, Hiroaki Tsuji

Patent number: 4918435Abstract: In a method for processing animated graphic in which a graphic symbol is displayed on a displaying unit on the basis of data preliminarily set in a video RAM and the displayed graphic symbol is totally shifted by a predetermined amount, the graphic symbol to be shifted is initially described in an original graphics storing area and a graphic symbol transfer area is provided so as to include the graphic symbol initially described in the original graphics storing area and includes a non-display area at the outer periphery thereof. The data corresponding to the transfer area is then transferred into the video RAM the transferred data including the sizes or dimensions and the coordinate of the reference point of the transfer area.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1988Date of Patent: April 17, 1990Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Okuma TekkoshoInventors: Masato Ryouki, Akihito Shibata
