Abstract: A method for forwarding messages containing cryptographic keys from a conditional access system that controls a population of set-top boxes to an encryption renewal system. The method includes storing a fictitious address of a virtual set-top box; generating a message based on the fictitious address, the message containing a cryptographic key; and forwarding the message to the fictitious address of the virtual set-top box. The encryption renewal system has information regarding the virtual set-top box, and is the recipient of the message. In addition, the encryption renewal system is for controlling access to pre-encrypted content generated by an encryption device.

Movie texture mapping for the random replay is performed in which textures are mapped on the object OB1 in the order starting from ETEX-K, and also on the object OB2 in the order starting from ETEX-L. Movie texture mapping for the frame-decimation replay is performed in which mapping of the expanded texture ETEX-I is followed by mapping of the expanded texture ETEX (I+J) (when J≧2). The compressed movie texture data contains data used to designate storage locations of the compressed textures CTEX-1 to CTEX-N . The objects OB1 and OB2 can be arranged to overlap each other to represent an image having an increased area such as a flame image.

Abstract: A method of delivering content from a head end to subscriber terminals within one or more cable systems. Such content may be video, audio or the like. The method includes the step of encrypting the content offline to form pre-encrypted content, generating an encryption record containing parameters employed for encrypting the content. Based on the encryption record, a control message for permitting access to the pre-encrypted content is generated using a periodical key provided by the first cable system. The pre-encrypted content and associated control message is thereafter forwarded to the first subscriber terminal for decryption of the content. For a second subscriber terminal within a second cable system, the pre-encrypted content is retrofitted with a second control message permitting the pre-encrypted content to be decrypted by the second subscriber terminal.
