  • Patent number: 11716745
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improving network communications, for example by scheduling or configuring a downlink/uplink (DL/UL) slot ratio, and/or an amount of redundant Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs) to be transmitted, in some cases prior to an acknowledgement. In embodiments using FDD, an improved scheduler can be asymmetrical, for example limiting resources used by an uplink to 20%, while allowing a user device to use a maximum power level, or an increased power level, in the uplink.

  • Patent number: 11711673
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves wireless user devices over a radio channel that is allocated into subchannels for wireless network slices. A wireless access node schedules resource blocks from the subchannels to the wireless user devices based on their wireless network slices. The wireless access node detects a subchannel has available resource blocks and other subchannels need the available resource blocks. The wireless access node schedules the available resource blocks to the wireless user devices that need the available resource blocks and that use a higher priority wireless network slice. The wireless access node wirelessly exchanges user data with the wireless user devices over the scheduled resource blocks and exchanges the user data with the wireless network slices. The wireless network slices exchanging at least some of the user data with external systems.

  • Publication number: 20230216599
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for polarization division multiple access. A polarized antenna system having a plurality of differently-polarized antennas is envisioned for wirelessly communicating with a plurality of user devices in a wireless network environment. Each polarized pair of antenna elements, using a particular frequency, will transmit signals using a polarization-frequency pair and a base station will instruct user devices which polarization-frequency pair they should tune to for processing the appropriate downlink signal. Using OFDMA with a polarized antenna system increases capacity without the need for deploying additional base stations.

  • Patent number: 11695536
Abstract: A method for controlling configuration of an air interface between an access node and at least one user equipment device (UE), where the air interface is divided over time into frames and the frames are further divided at least into subframes, where the air interface operates in accordance with a time-division-duplex (TDD) configuration that defines at least a number of uplink subframes per frame for communication over the air interface. An example method includes (i) detecting at least a threshold high rate of uplink voice muting on the air interface, and (ii) responsive to at least the detecting, changing the TDD configuration to increase the number of uplink subframes per frame over the air interface.

  • Publication number: 20230156561
Abstract: Methods, systems, and access nodes associate a corresponding unique code with multiple access nodes and multiplex data with each of the corresponding unique codes. Further, the multiplexed data is transmitted from each of the multiple access nodes to a donor node. At the donor node, a unique donor code is assigned and is multiplexed with the donor node data. The multiplexed data from the multiple access nodes and the multiplexed donor node data are transmitted in parallel from the donor node to a core network.

  • Publication number: 20230133773
Abstract: Systems, methods, and processing nodes for managing duplex communications in a network perform and/or comprise: setting an overlap threshold; comparing a first time division duplex (TDD) allocation corresponding to a first access node with a second TDD allocation corresponding to a second access node which neighbors the first access node and which utilizes a same frequency band as the first access node, thereby to determine a overlap amount; and in response to a determination that the overlap amount exceeds the overlap threshold, instructing the first access node to multiplex a downlink communication signal with an orthogonal code prior to transmitting the downlink communication signal.

  • Patent number: 11464021
Abstract: A first access node that is operating on a first TDD carrier having a first TDD configuration will determine that a second TDD carrier on which a proximate second access node is operating has a different, second TDD configuration, such that there is at least one time interval in which the first TDD carrier is downlink concurrently with the second TDD carrier being uplink. In response to at least this determination, the first access node will then transition to a mode in which, during the time interval, the first access node will operate with reduced transmission power on a frequency portion of the first TDD carrier that is closest in frequency to the second TDD carrier. Further, the first access node could allocate the lower-transmission-power frequency portion for use in transmission to served devices deemed to be in at least predefined threshold high quality coverage of the first access node.

  • Patent number: 11076270
Abstract: A wireless access node serves wireless user devices with different services over a common radio channel. The different services are supported by different wireless network slices. The wireless access node determines service subchannels in the radio channel based on location and time. The wireless access node schedules resource blocks from the subchannels for their corresponding services. If a subchannel for one service is full, then the wireless access node schedules the remaining data for the service in the unscheduled resource blocks of the other subchannels if any. The wireless access node wirelessly exchanges data for the services with the wireless user devices over the scheduled resource blocks in the subchannels of the radio channel. The wireless access node exchanges the data with the wireless network slices that support the services.

  • Patent number: 10873958
Abstract: A method and system for controlling PRB allocation in dual-connectivity service in which a first access node serves a UE on a first carrier concurrently with a second access node serving the UE on a second carrier. In an example implementation, the first and second access nodes interwork with each other to select a pair of (i) a first group of PRBs within the first carrier for uplink transmission from the UE to the first access node and (ii) a second group of PRBs within the second carrier for uplink transmission from the UE to the second access node, with the selecting being based on minimizing a maximum-power-reduction (MPR) that would be applied for concurrent transmission by the UE to the first access node and to the second access node. The access nodes could then accordingly coordinate the UE's concurrent uplink transmissions.
