  • Publication number: 20100008649
Abstract: A hybrid video camera with a built-in hard drive and optical disk drive plus removable media read/write unit is disclosed. The video camera has a face detection function, which is used to split a video stream of a scene shot at the position of a frame containing no human face images, thereby realizing automatic scene-split dubbing without impairing the scene continuity. With this feature, it is possible, when watching a home video movie, to avoid sudden stop of playback of the scene otherwise occurring due to improper splitting of the scene at its run-on part during dubbing by letting the scene be dividedly recorded on a plurality of disks.

  • Publication number: 20090169187
Abstract: A seek time is shortened even when AV streams and non-AV streams are read continuously and alternately. When no space is available when a non-AV stream is recorded to a non-AV stream area, the non-AV stream area is closed, a non-use area is then split from the AV stream area to generate a recorded AV stream area and an intermediate state area and the AV stream area is closed. The intermediate state area is split and a new MD area and a new AV stream area are generated.

  • Publication number: 20090041432
Abstract: A record/reproduction apparatus capable of performing record-reproduction with high definition and standard definition appropriately records information, and includes: at least one of a display unit and an output unit to an external display device; a hard disk drive; and a disc drive corresponding to record-reproduction using a disc for record-reproduction in a high definition mode and a disc for record-reproduction in a standard definition mode. With the configuration, the record/reproduction apparatus performs a display on the display unit in the high definition mode or a display-output to the output unit in the high definition mode at activation, recognizes one of the hard disk drive and the disc drive as a record medium after the display-outputting, and sets a record mode to one of the hard disk drive and the disc drive based on a result of the recognition.

  • Publication number: 20090040890
Abstract: Provided is a recording/reproduction apparatus capable of securing a backup area for management information on a recording medium without affecting the capacity of a user data area. Before a hard disk drive or a disc medium (recording medium) is finalized, metadata is recorded in a metadata area and when the hard disk drive or the disc medium are finalized, a user data area portion corresponding to the volume of metadata required for the finalizing is set as a metadata mirror area and then the metadata recorded in the metadata area is copied to the metadata mirror area.

  • Publication number: 20080258177
Abstract: Wirings connected to a gate electrode of a slave switch circuit cell for substrate bias circuits are respectively electrically connected to a wiring for a power supply potential and a wiring for a reference potential. Thus, the switch operation of the slave switch circuit cell is made invalid. Wirings connected to n wells of respective circuit cells are electrically connected to a wiring for the power supply potential, and wirings connected to p wells of the respective circuit cells are electrically connected to the wiring. Thus, the n wells are fixed to the power supply potential, and the p wells are fixed to the reference potential.

  • Publication number: 20080019666
Abstract: A recording and reproducing module records a signal (broadcast program) based on a first compression method to a recording medium, and during a period of time during which recording is not performed, reproduces the signal based on the first compression method, which has been recorded to the recording medium. Then, a transcoding module transcodes the signal based on the first compression method to a signal based on a second compression method. The signal based on the second compression method, whose transcoding has been completed, is recorded to the recording medium; and the signal based on the first compression method is erased from the recording medium. The controller refers to recording history information and sets a schedule including a target broadcast program to be transcoded and a time zone in which the target broadcast program is transcoded.

  • Publication number: 20080019668
Abstract: The data recording and reproducing apparatus comprises a transcoding module and a recording and reproducing module. The transcoding module transcodes a video or audio signal based on one compression method to a signal based on another compression method, the video or audio signal being inputted through a tuner. The recording and reproducing module records, to a recording medium, the transcoded video or audio signal together with the inputted video or audio signal, the transcoded video or audio signal having been transcoded by the transcoding module. The recording and reproducing module records one of the video or audio signals, which are identical but based on different compression methods, with the other video or audio signal being written to the recording medium as a hidden file.

  • Publication number: 20050086603
Abstract: The problem to be solved is to make it possible to download via a network, efficiently manage, retrieve, and reproduce an external content associated with a content recorded on a recording medium. To solve the problem, a program is used which controls reproduction of information located on a recording medium and related information. The program includes the steps of: obtaining from the outside specific information associated with predetermined information recorded on a recording medium; and obtaining medium identification information located on a recording medium; wherein if the specific information has been obtained, a storage unit in a reproducing apparatus is controlled to associate the specific information with the medium identification information for storage.

  • Publication number: 20050060552
Abstract: In an apparatus not connected to a network can perform the reproduction within a valid viewing period. Also, in order to facilitate the change of the encryption algorithms of a password, a program recorded on the disk comprises the steps of acquiring a first medium identification number recorded on a recording medium, acquiring the current time, acquiring a password, calculating a second medium identification number and the expiry date of the valid viewing period from the password, comparing the first medium identification number with the second medium identification number, and comparing the current time with the expiry date of the valid viewing period. In the case where the first medium identification number coincides with the second medium identification number and the current time has not passed the expiry date of the valid viewing period, then the predetermined information is reproduced from the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6445654
Abstract: In a DVD video player with a built-in CD-R drive, until it reaches the state that the data of an optical disk can be reproduced, the output is switched into the reproduction output from a flash memory, a record medium that is quick to start reading. This makes it possible to develop user interfaces such as: voluntarily reproducing an audio information from the flash memory to add music sounds or sounds with special effects to the screen saver, in replacement of the optical disk drive that cannot read data during the screen saver being in operation or being in standby; reproducing the sounds with special effects; reproducing click sounds in response to a key input from the key or the remote control unit; and announcing to inform of the state to the user.
