  • Patent number: 4664024
Abstract: A thermally insulated window includes intake and discharge ducts extending between a pair of interconnected interior and exterior metallic frame pieces, and dampers pivotably mounted on the ducts to open and close openings of the ducts which face the outside atmospheric air. The ducts and the dampers are made of a thermally insulative material such as a synthetic resin. The dampers are actuated by power transmitting mechanisms which are disposed within the respective ducts and are adapted to be actuated from the interior side of the window. The ducts, dampers and the power transmitting mechanisms do not deteriorate the thermal insulating properties of the window as a whole.

  • Patent number: 4643246
Abstract: A bay window includes a frame assembly composed of an inner head, an inner transom, an inner sill, an outer head, an outer transom, an outer sill, a middle horizontal panel interconnecting the inner and outer transoms, and a lower horizontal panel interconnecting the inner and outer sills. A window unit is disposed between the outer head and the outer transom, and a housing or bay window cupboard is disposed between the middle and lower horizontal panels. A ventilator is accommodated in the housing and has an air inlet port communicating with air inlets defined in the inner sill and opening into a house interior space, and an air outlet port communicating with air outlets defined in the inner transom and opening into the house interior space.

  • Patent number: 4625628
Abstract: A combined wall and ventilation module for a building, comprises a wall unit having a thermally insulated frame and a thermally insulated wall element mounted in the frame on the exterior side thereof, and a ventilator supported by the frame on the interior side thereof and having a heat-exhanging element disposed therein for effecting a heat exchange between fresh atmospheric air and consumed room air. The frame has within it at least one thermally insulated internal intake passage communicating at opposite ends with the ventilator and the outside atmosphere for introducing therethrough the fresh atmospheric air into the ventilator, and at least one thermally insulated internal discharge passage communicating at opposite ends with the ventilator and the outside atmosphere for discharging therethrough the consumed room air into the outside atmosphere. Each of the intake and discharge passages is covered with a layer of thermally insulating material extending over the inner peripheral surface of the passage.

  • Patent number: 4617805
Abstract: An air conditioner system in a building comprising a heat exchanger unit disposed below a building floor, a pair of juxtaposed air passages disposed within a hollow sill in heat exchange relationship to an internal conduit for a heat transferring medium and communicating with the outside air through the heat exchanger unit, a fresh air outlet defined in a top wall of the sill and communicating with the heat exchanger unit through one of the air passages, and a room air inlet defined in a side wall of the sill and communicating with the heat exchanger unit through the other air passage. The air conditioner system thus constructed is sightly to view and provides an air circulation for better air conditioning effects and a uniform air temperature distribution in a house interior space.

  • Patent number: 4611653
Abstract: A ventilation system comprising a heat-exchanger rotor mounted in a four-chamber housing supported on a panel or window unit, and a preliminary heat-exchange unit mounted at an air-intake portion of the housing. The window unit has a frame composed of a plurality of hollow structural sections defining a heat-medium passageway for circulation of heat medium such as hot water or cold water therethrough. The preliminary heat-exchanger unit has a radiation/endothermy tube connected to the heat-medium passageway for fluid communication therewith. The radiation/endothermy tube serves to prewarm or precool air (introduced from the exterior) before the latter passes through the heat-exchanger rotor.

  • Patent number: 4572282
Abstract: A ventilation system comprises a window unit with a rectangular window frame having a hollow interior constituting a flow passage for air, and a ventilator held in fluid communication with the hollow interior of the window frame. The ventilator has a built-in heat exchanging element which effects a heat exchange between fresh air and foul air during operation. The window frame has an integral pipeline disposed in the hollow interior of the window frame at the interior side of the window unit for the passage therethrough of a heat-transferring medium. The heat-transferring medium flowing through the pipeline gives up heat to, or extracts heat from the air channeled through the flow passage in the window frame prior to or after the air's being introduced into the ventilator. Thus, the efficiency of heat exchange is considerably increased.

  • Patent number: 4066284
Abstract: A latch of the bolt type for use with windows or doors includes a plate member disposed slidably within a latch housing and has engaging means thereon for engaging with the handle of a latch bolt to hold the latter in its extended position. The plate member can be moved in a direction in which the latch bolt is slidable and can be secured relative to the housing by means of a screw, whereby the length of projection of the latch bolt is made variable.

  • Patent number: 3983674
Abstract: In a shutter construction typically installed on the outside of a window and including one or more panel assemblies mounted within an outer frame for horizontal sliding movement into and out of a shutter box, each of the panel assemblies is composed of a supporting frame and a series of aligned elementary panels closely fitted in the supporting frame. The supporting frame consists of top and bottom rails and a pair of stiles, and the stiles are formed wth a tongue and a pair of clamping jaws, respectively, projecting toward each other. Each elementary panel also has a tongue and a pair of clamping jaws along its respective lateral edges which are exactly identical with the tongue and jaws of the stiles. The elementary panels are connected to each other and to the stiles solely by the clamping engagement of the tongues by the respective pairs of jaws.
