Patent number: 6571552Abstract: An exhaust gas recovery system for an internal combustion engine recovers the high heat energy generated by an exhaust gas clarification catalytic converter intermediately disposed in the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine as electrical energy without causing an increase in exhaust gas resistance. A stack device in a heat-driven type sound wave generating portion is provided at a one end of a resonance pipe. The resonance pipe is disposed adjacently to an exhaust gas clarification catalytic converter intermediately disposed in the exhaust system. A first end portion of the stack is heated by the heat generated by the catalytic converter, thereby providing the stack with a temperature gradient. A transducer for converting a sound wave generated by the sound wave generating portion attendant on the temperature gradient into electrical energy is provided at the other end portion of the resonance pipe.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2001Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masaki Ban, Akio Matsuzaki

Patent number: 6568227Abstract: To provide a parking brake device allowing a vehicle to be kept in a wheel lock state by a parking brake when the vehicle is parked and a driver is separated from the vehicle and when an engine of a vehicle in a parking state is started. In a parking brake device in which a pull-up force of a parking lever supported by a base plate fixed on a vehicular body side is transmitted to a brake device of a vehicle via a wire to lock the brake device, an ignition block is provided on the parking lever. This parking brake device includes a lock pin projecting when a key cylinder is located in a LOCK position, and further the lock pin projects through a cutout only when the parking lever is in a brake lock state. With this configuration, the wheel is already in the lock state by the parking brake if an ignition key is inserted or removed in or from the key cylinder in the LOCK position.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2001Date of Patent: May 27, 2003Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akio Matsuzaki, Takahito Sekita

Patent number: 6252327Abstract: A motor stator structure having a plurality of slots aligned with an axial direction of a stator core. The stator structure includes straight conductors having cross-sections that substantially conform with the cross-section of the slots in the stator core. The conductors are connected in circuits by joint plates, the ends of the conductors being riveted to holes within the joint plates.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2000Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Akio Matsuzaki

Patent number: 4781264Abstract: A motor vehicle with a riding saddle includes front and rear wheels, an engine, a front wheel steering device for steering the front wheel, a frame having an integral head pipe supporting the front wheel steering device, a rear fork having a front end pivotally mounted on the frame and a rear end supporting the rear wheel, and a cushioning unit having a front end pivotally coupled to the frame and a rear end coupled to the rear fork for relative angular movement. The cushioning unit extends substantially parallel to a longitudinal central axis of the motor vehicle an is displaced laterally from the longitudinal central axis, leaving a space on one side of the cushioning unit. The motor vehicle also includes accessories disposed in the space on one side of the cushioning unit. The frame includes main and down tubes extending downwardly and rearwardly from the upper and lower portions, respectively, of the head pipe. Each of the main and down tubes is composed of a pair of laterally spaced members.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1985Date of Patent: November 1, 1988Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akio Matsuzaki, Mamoru Isomura, Kazutoshi Nakano, Toshiya Katami

Patent number: 4633965Abstract: A motorcycle comprising an engine, a radiator mounted in front of the engine and a seat cowl mounted on the rear portion of the motorcycle, a guide member extends from the radiator to the seat cowl for guiding air from the rear of the radiator to the seat cowl. In one embodiment of the present invention, the guide member is a guide plate which forms a passage with a chamber cover. The air flow through the passage cools an engine exhaust chamber located in the passage. In an alternate embodiment, the guide member is a Y-shaped guide duct having a main body with an air intake located to the rear of the radiator and branched portions with exhaust ports located at the sides of the seat cowl.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1984Date of Patent: January 6, 1987Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasuyuki Tsurumi, Akio Matsuzaki

Patent number: 4278861Abstract: In a key button structure for electronic devices, a metal plate has one or more sharp-tipped projections extending from the surface thereof. The one or more projections of the metal plate are impaled into the key button body which is made of metal, from the bottom surface of the key button body of which the area is narrower than the surface area of the metal plate, thereby to intimately couple the key button body with the metal plate. When those ports are coupled, a part of the metal plate serves as a collar.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1979Date of Patent: July 14, 1981Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventor: Akio Matsuzaki
