Patent number: 5342280Abstract: A management system for use in a centrifuge equipped with a detachable rotor which is rotatable so as to separate density-different samples by a centrifugal force due to the rotation. The management system is for managing the lifetime of the rotor on the basis of the detection results of an operated-condition detector for detecting operated conditions such as the number of times of rotation, running time and rotational speed of the rotor. The management system includes a data storing device which is provided on the rotor to be rotatable therewith and is composed of a magnetic recording medium to allow keeping data relating to the operated conditions of the rotor. Also included in the management system is a data processing unit coupled through a data reading and writing device such as a magnetic head to the data keeping device and also coupled to the operated-condition detector to be responsive to the operated conditions.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1993Date of Patent: August 30, 1994Assignee: Hitachi Koki Company LimitedInventors: Yoshitaka Niinai, Akio Nagata, Norihisa Sagawa, Shigeru Shinohara, Eiji Nakayama, Mitsutoshi Yotsuyanagi, Hiroshi Hayasaka, Kazuyoshi Tokunaga

Patent number: 5004453Abstract: A centrifuge includes an outer frame defining therein a rotor chamber, a centrifuge rotor detachably disposed in the rotor chamber, and a door slidably mounted on the frame for opening and closing the rotor chamber. The door projects outwardly from the frame when it is disposed in an open position. Since the door is received within the frame when it is fully closed, it does not enlarge the necessary space for installation of the centrifuge.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1989Date of Patent: April 2, 1991Assignee: Hitachi Koko Company, LimitedInventors: Hiroshi Hayasaka, Akio Nagata

Patent number: 4670002Abstract: A rotor for separation and collection of specimen particles carried by a liquid buffer by continuous centrifugal elutriation, whereby the interior of the rotor itself is employed as a separation chamber. This separation chamber is shaped such that the circumferential cross-sectional area thereof continuously increases from the outer to the inner periphery in a specific manner, so that centrifugal elutriation is accomplished by pumping the liquid buffer from positions at the outer periphery of the separation chamber towards the inner periphery. A transparent cover can be employed to cover the separation chamber, so that the separated material becomes directly visible as a peripheral ring, without the need to employ a stroboflash lamp, and in addition it is possible to separate large amounts of material by a single centrifuging operation.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1985Date of Patent: June 2, 1987Assignee: Hitachi Koki Company, Ltd.Inventors: Masakuni Koreeda, Akio Nagata, Sadamoto Tachihara
