Patent number: 7794655Abstract: A test fluid measurement device includes an output acquisition unit for acquiring an output value from a urinary sugar sensor, when a reference fluid, set to a specified density, is applied to the urinary sugar sensor. By using this output value to set a reference value, a reference value setting unit calibrates the sensitivity of the urinary sugar sensor. During sensitivity calibration, an output value judgment unit determines according to an output value that is already acquired by the output acquisition unit whether or not the output value that is newly acquired by the output acquisition unit is suitable to be set as the reference value. After an output value is determined not to be suitable as the reference value setting, a reference fluid detection unit detects when more reference fluid from which another output value is to be acquired by the output acquisition unit has been additionally applied.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2007Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Tanita CorporationInventors: Akio Ohashi, Satoshi Ikeda

Publication number: 20080159914Abstract: A test fluid measurement device includes an output acquisition unit 51 for acquiring an output value from a urinary sugar sensor 2, which measures the amount of urinary sugar in a test fluid, when a reference fluid, whose urinary sugar component is set to a specified density, is applied to the urinary sugar sensor 2. By using this output value to set a reference value as a reference during measurement, a reference value setting unit 53 calibrates the sensitivity of the urinary sugar sensor 2. During sensitivity calibration, an output value judgment unit 52 determines according to an output value that is already acquired by the output acquisition unit 51 whether or not the output value that is newly acquired by the output acquisition unit 51 is suitable to be set as the reference value.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2007Publication date: July 3, 2008Applicant: Tanita CorporationInventors: Akio Ohashi, Satoshi Ikeda

Patent number: 7229409Abstract: A system for providing a home health care service includes a health care center, a service recipient device, and the Internet that connects these components. The health care center: is constructed on the Internet; includes a database for registering personal data that are necessary for the health care of registered at-home patients as basic health care data and storing measurement data that are provided from at-home patients over the course of time; and has the functions of inferring the health conditions of at-home patients based on the measurement data and the basic health care data, and offering appropriate services necessary for inferred health conditions. The service recipient device includes a biosensor and a signal processor. The biosensor detects chemical components contained in a substance that is discharged from the human body and converts detected values to electrical signals at the point of discharge.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2002Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Narushi Ito, Akio Ohashi

Patent number: 5470739Abstract: The invention discloses a cell culture support which provides for the adhesion and culturing of one or more adhesive cells using a photoresist in which to provide a particular patterned design on a surface of the support. The patterned design is provided by the photoresist which is partially removed by photolithography during the making of the support which in turn imparts a striped, checkerboard or dotted pattern on the surface of the support. Further, the cell culture support is produced by pretreating the support surface with a reagent to provide hydrophobicity to the support surface. Also a reagent can be added to pretreat the support surface in order to facilitate adhesion at the photoresist prior to applying the photoresist into the cell culture support. Collagen is applied in the form of a solution, containing in addition thereto albumin and a crosslinking agent, in order to form a film. Collagen specifically affects the cell adhesion rate or the morphology of the cells to be adhered to the support.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1992Date of Patent: November 28, 1995Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Toshihiro Akaike, Seishiro Tobe, Shigeyuki Miyamoto, Akio Ohashi
