  • Patent number: 5786817
Abstract: An information managing apparatus for managing received electronic mail has a memory for successively storing entered electronic mail, a CPU having a program for managing the electronic mail stored by the memory, a display unit for displaying electronic mail managed by the CPU, and a tablet for making an entry relative to the electronic mail displayed by the display unit. The tablet allows the user to establish a retention period with respect to the displayed electronic mail. The CPU stores the electronic mail with the retention period added thereto in the memory and deletes the electronic mail with the added retention period which has expired as detected by comparison with a timer at a given period of time.

  • Patent number: 5113452
Abstract: A hand-written character recognition apparatus and method in which line element data obtained from an output hand-written stroke is converted to a plurality of sub-strokes satisfying a tracing condition in accordance with a tracing command described in a character dictionary data base, substrokes satisfying the tracing condition are selected in accordance with a selection command described in the character dictionary data base, then on the basis of an assumption that the hand-written stroke is a set of sub-strokes, the hand-written character is recognized by evaluating the shape of the sub-stroke by employing a shape evaluation command and by evaluating a position evaluation command derived from the character dictionary data base, whereby a hand-written character, such as a distorted hand-written character and so on, can be recognized with ease.

  • Patent number: 4733023
Abstract: A coordinate position digitizing system comprises a position determining plate having a plurality of first conductors extending in parallel with one another at regularly spaced intervals. A plurality of second conductors also extend in parallel with one another at regularly spaced intervals and across the first conductors. Driving and controlling means are provided in common to the first conductors and the second conductors for selectively energizing in turn one or more of the first conductors and second conductors, for example, by supplying a direct current flowing therethrough. Pick-up means, such as a magnetic flux detecting means, is movably set on the position determining plate for producing a signal in response to field variations on the position determining plate caused by the selective energization of the first conductors and second conductors.

  • Patent number: 4728944
Abstract: A coordinate position digitizing system to be used with a cathode ray tube, comprises a position determining plate having a plurality of conductors extending parallel with one another at regularly spaced intervals, and driving means for supplying a constant current selectively to the conductors, one after another, within a horizontal scanning period of the cathode ray tube. Magnetic flux detecting means detects magnetic flux on the position determining plate, and a band pass filter eliminates a noise component resulting from the deflection magnetic field of the cathode ray tube. Positional data defining a position of the magnetic flux detecting means on the position determining plate is produced in response to the output of the band pass filter.

  • Patent number: 4723056
Abstract: A coordinate position digitizing system incorporates apparatus for detecting the X and Y positions of a voltage detecting device relative to a position determining plate employing apparatus for generating data corresponding to the X and Y positions of said voltage detecting device on said plate at successive sampling times, means for calculating the difference corresponding to the difference in the indicated position at two successive sampling periods, and rejecting signals indicating positions which differ from previous positions by distances which are greater than a predetermined amount, corresponding to the maximum distance that the voltage detecting device can be moved between successive sampling periods. In this way, position-indicating signals which are corrupted by noise pulses or the like are rejected.
