  • Patent number: 5656816
Abstract: A detector comprises an infrared reflection layer and a diaphragm member, the infrared reflection layer and the diaphragm member facing each other, with a space intervening therebetween, and the diaphragm member comprises an infrared absorbable layer. A signal varies a distance between the diaphragm member and the infrared reflection layer, and thus a band of an absorbed wavelength is varied. The distance is varied by a voltage applied between a first conductive layer disposed at the infrared reflection layer side and a second conductive layer disposed at the diaphragm side. In driving the detector, a surface of the diaphragm is contacted with a surface of the structure temporarily by altering a voltage applied therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5594248
Abstract: An infrared imaging device has a plurality of detectors comprising thermocouples, bolometers, or the like and a scanner for scanning the detectors. To prevent all pixels corresponding to the detectors from failing to operate due to a charge overflow that occurs when some of the detectors are broken, a bypass circuit in the form of a bypass resistor, and a diode, or the like, is connected parallel to each of the detectors for limiting the output signal therefrom to a predetermined voltage range. Even if a detector is broken, the output signal thereof is limited to the predetermined voltage range, thus preventing a charge overflow.

  • Patent number: 5594473
Abstract: A computer that provides data to a video display using a bitmap display memory organization and bitplane addressing. Separate control is provided for two bitplane backgrounds and for eight reusable and easily movable sprites. Additional logic allows for dynamically-controllable interobject priority and collision detection among data in each of the bitplane backgrounds and sprites. A coprocessor provides for video beam-synchronized changes to data in registers, freeing the main processor for general purpose computing tasks. A block image transferer is provided to rapidly copy data in large blocks from one memory location to another. In hold-and-modify mode, color output circuitry holds the values for a previously displayed pixel while bitplane data modifies those values, allowing for simultaneous display of a greatly increased number of colors.

  • Patent number: 5361180
Abstract: A loading lever having loading lever pins is fixed on a main chassis. Loading arms having loading arm depressed portions are rotatably attached to a slide chassis. The loading arm depressed portion engages with the loading lever pin, and the loading arm depressed portion is engaged with the loading lever pin, and in this state, the slide chassis moves in the direction of the arrow B. Therefore, loading arms move in the direction of the arrows J and K. Since the loading arms are rotated, it becomes unnecessary to slide the loading lever, and therefore, the structure of the magnetic recording reproducing apparatus can be made simple.

  • Patent number: 5231382
Abstract: The invention provides voltage potential differences for selectively discharging cells in a plasma display device, with greater brightness and reduced power consumption. The driving pulses applied to either selected cells or non-selected cells during one scanning cycle includes a high frequency hold mode period after a low frequency address mode period. During the hold mode period, a duty factor of its pulse train is selected to be smaller than that of the address mode period. Particularly, the pulse width of the pulse train in the hold mode period is shorter than an interval of pulses thereof. In other words, the duty factor of the hold mode period is selected to be less than 1/2 to decrease the voltage causing an erroneous discharge. In another embodiment, to improve brightness, the duration of hold mode is, extended to cover one more scanning cycle.
