  • Patent number: 9803568
Abstract: A control system of an internal combustion engine which performs diffusion combustion by compression autoignition on fuel injected in a main injection in at least a partial operating range and which performs stratified combustion by spark ignition using a spark plug on fuel injected prior to the main injection. The control system determines whether or not the diffusion combustion occurs and performs combustion by spark ignition using the spark plug on the fuel injected in the main injection when it is determined that the diffusion combustion does not occur.

  • Patent number: 8978611
Abstract: Disclosed is a piston (16) that is capable of not only suppressing the occurrence of knocking but also reducing cooling loss in an internal combustion engine in which a tumble flow is formed in a cylinder. The piston for the internal combustion engine in which the tumble flow is formed in the cylinder includes a non-adiabatic region (50) that is a region on a piston upper surface (35) brought into contact with the tumble flow during an intake stroke and has no insulating layer. • Patent number: 7938099
Abstract: An intake port structure of an internal combustion engine includes an intake port, a valve shaft provided in proximity to an inner wall of the intake port, and an airflow control valve having a proximal end which is pivotally supported on the valve shaft and a distal end which becomes part of the inner wall of the intake port when the airflow control valve is fully opened. The inner wall of the intake port has a recess into which the airflow control valve is partially or entirely retracted when the airflow control valve is fully opened. The recess has a flow smoothing portion located downstream of the proximal end.

  • Patent number: 7762229
Abstract: In an intake system for an internal combustion engine wherein a partition plate is provided within an intake pipe in a longitudinal direction so that an inside is divided into a first intake passage, which is an upper side passage of the above described intake pipe, and a second intake passage, which is a lower side passage of the above described intake pipe, and an intake control valve for opening and closing the second intake passage is provided, the partition plate has holes which connect the first intake passage to the second intake passage and allow fuel on a lower surface of the partition plate to be sucked out to the first intake passage. When an intense tumble flow is created in the first intake passage in the intake system, an air flow toward the first intake passage from the second intake passage is created in the holes so that the fuel that adheres to the partition plate can be sucked out.
