  • Patent number: 4600636
Abstract: For use in an automobile bumper, a core material composed of a molded article of prefoamed polyolefin resin particles. The core material has a density of 0.05 to 0.15 g/cm.sup.3 and the relation represented by the following expressionE.sub.20 /.rho..gtoreq.20 kg-cm/gwherein E.sub.20 is the amount of energy absorption (kg-cm/cm.sup.3) when the core material is compressed to 50% at 20.degree. C., and .rho. is the density (g/cm.sup.3) of the core material.

  • Patent number: 4504534
Abstract: A core material for automobile bumpers which is composed of a molded article of foamed particles of a polypropylene-type resin. The molded article has a density of 0.015 to 0.045 g/cm.sup.3 and a compression stress at 50% compression of at least 1 kg/cm.sup.2. The core material simultaneously has excellent energy absorbing property and dimensional recovery and a low density.

  • Patent number: 4268295
Abstract: Apparatus and method for manufacturing crushed sands from blast furnace melted slags including maintaining molten blast furnace melted slags out of contact with water while cooling the molten slags to a temperature between 850.degree. C. to 1300.degree. C. and then rapidly cooling the cooled slags with water thereby producing coarse grain hard quality water processed slags.

  • Patent number: 3985866
Abstract: Method in which a metal fuel in the form of molten droplets is brought into contact with water for reaction. The fuel comprises aluminum as a primary fuel component and at least one of lithium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and sodium-potassium alloy as an auxiliary fuel component and is used in the form of an alloy or a mixture of these fuel components. When used in the form of an alloy, the fuel is preheated to a molten state and injected into a reactor under high pressure, whereby the fuel is made into droplets and contacted with water vapor introduced into the reactor from another system. For use as a mixture, the fuel is made into a slurry the liquid phase of which consists singly of the auxiliary fuel component, and the slurry is injected into an atmosphere containing water vapor.
