  • Patent number: 6833975
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, in a magnetic recording medium for perpendicular magnetic recording, a recording characteristic which is not inferior to that of double-layer medium and a resolution of reproduction which is not inferior to that of single layer medium are provided. On a non-magnetic substrate, a soft magnetic layer for increasing a perpendicular component of recording magnetic field in a perpendicular magnetic recording layer is formed. A non-magnetic layer for suppressing extension of signal magnetic field loop from recording magnetization in the perpendicular magnetic recording layer is formed on the soft magnetic layer. The perpendicular magnetic recording layer is formed on the non-magnetic layer. The non-magnetic layer has a thickness required to effectively reduce the signal magnetic field loop. The required thickness exceeds 20 nm.

  • Patent number: 6469286
Abstract: A compact and highly controllable impedance-varying-unit, a microwave device using the same unit, and a high-frequency-heating appliance using the same unit are provided. The impedance varying unit includes a rectangular waveguide-section as a main body made of metallic material, an open end of waveguide-section working on microwave in a microwave cavity, a terminal end of waveguide-section closed by metallic material, a rotary movable body made of non-metallic material, and a driver for the movable body. A rotating angle or a position of the movable body is controlled, so that an impedance at the open end is varied and transmission status of microwave is changed, thereby variably controlling a standing wave distribution. Controlling the standing wave distribution allows an object in the cavity to be selectively heated or uniformly heated. Further, the standing wave produced in the microwave cavity is sequentially varied, so that the object can be selectively heated or uniformly heated.

  • Patent number: 6407885
Abstract: A thin film magnetic head that provides, despite a narrow head track width, strong recording magnetic fields and demonstrates a sufficiently high recording capability for the high Hc recording media. The lower magnetic pole is formed with a lower write chip section and a shared shield section, while the upper magnetic pole is formed with an upper write chip section and a yoke section. The lower and upper write chip sections are made of a high Bs magnetic material, the yoke section is made of a high &rgr; magnetic material, and the shared shield section is made of permalloy or the like magnetic material. The upper write chip section is longer than the lower write chip section (which corresponds to the head gap depth); this configuration makes the contact area with the yoke section greater, even if the head track width is narrow, and provides strong recording magnetic fields.

  • Patent number: 5315233
Abstract: In order to take into account the effect of load resistance applied to an electromagnetic field in analyzing an electromagnetic wave oscillator, the present invention arranges a resistance equivalent to the load resistance in the analytical region, and converts a voltage applied to the load and the current flowing therein into an electric field component and a magnetic field component to analyze the electromagnetic field distribution of the entire analytical region. The motion of an electrical charge is thus analyzed taking into account a force applied to the electric charge by the electromagnetic field distribution. This compound analysis of both the electric charge motion and the electromagnetic field is alternately and repeatedly performed.
