  • Patent number: 6317405
Abstract: A read control system and a write control system are controlled separately in such a manner that a level of read power to be used for reading out information from an optical disk and a level of write power to be used for writing information onto the optical disk approach their respective target values. Automatic pre-calibration process is performed on a relationship between a control input to and a control output from the write control system, in order to provide an optimum write power level from the very beginning of recording. The above-mentioned automatic pre-calibration process includes comparing a current control input to the read control system with a control input to the read control system in the last calibration prior to initiation of recording operations and causing the write control system to execute the automatic calibration of the relationship only when a difference between the compared control inputs is greater than a predetermined reference value.

  • Patent number: 6187217
Abstract: In order to secure stable magnetic properties in a magnet alloy ribbon obtained by a melt rapid cooling method, and obtain excellent magnetic properties and corrosion resistance in a bonded magnet, the area ratio of dimple-like recesses (22) present in the surface (roll surface) of the alloy ribbon in contact with a cooling roll during solidification is defined. As a result, an alloy ribbon for a magnet having stable magnetic properties can be obtained. The use of a powder obtained by grinding such an alloy ribbon enables formation of a bonded magnet having excellent magnetic properties and corrosion resistance.

  • Patent number: 5352302
Abstract: A high-performance R--Fe--B permanent magnet being radially anisotropic can be produced by carrying out hot bending of a plateshaped magnet material produced by casting and hot working, to mold it into an arc shape; the cracks to be generated during the bending can be decreased by deciding such bending conditions as the amount of strain, the strain rate, the working temperature, as well as the structure and the composition of the alloy. Furthermore, by optimizing the conditions for heat-treatment and by using an oxidation resistance coating lubricant, an arc shape magnet of high performance and a low cost can be produced under stabilized conditions.

  • Patent number: 4839783
Abstract: A lighting apparatus has a casing pivotally separable along an intermediate parting line so as to facilitate various operations such as assembly, replacement, repair and checking of components contained therein. These components can be a light source, a projector lens, a variable masking device and a cooling fan, for example. Additionally, displaceable pivots are provided along the parting line for pulling a pivotal mechanism into the casing as respective casing halves are coupled to each other. The pivots can be displaced as the casing is opened and closed so that not only the opening and closing operation can be smoothly performed but also the external appearance of the apparatus is never injured since the pivotal mechanism is not exposed and no gap is developed along the parting line upon completely coupling the casing halves.

  • Patent number: 4822250
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring a small amount of fluid has at least one series of vibration pump units each having a fluid transfer pipe designed to perform a respirating action by the operation of a vibrator which vibrates in response to application of a high-frequency voltage. The fluid transfer pipes are connected in series via fluid diodes which serve to enable the fluid to flow only in one direction, while resisting reversing of the fluid, so that the fluid is transferred in one direction through the successive fluid transfer pipes. In order to minimize the pulsation of the fluid pressure at the downstream end of the apparatus, the vibrators of the pump unit are excited with predetermined phase differentials. Additional fluid diode is connected to the outlet end of the most downstream pump unit.

  • Patent number: 4557055
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rainbow image projector adapted to project a vivid rainbow image from a relatively small light source onto walls of a stage, a store, places for various parties, and like. Specifically, light rays emitted from the linear incandescent light source are converted by a cylindrical condenser lens into parallel light rays which are, in turn, obliquely incident on a triangular prism over whole area of its first refraction plane. Thus, it is possible to project a vivid rainbow image of a large curvature radius from the small light source of small power consumption and heat generation. A housing containing therein said linear light source, cylindrical condenser lens and prism and provided with a projection window is inclination-adjustably mounted an inclination adjustment screw on a support leg so that a direction in which the rainbow image is projected may be variable.

  • Patent number: 4474026
Abstract: A refrigerating apparatus comprises two refrigerant circuits connected in a parallel fashion which include a common condenser. An evaporating temperature in an evaporator of one refrigerant circuit is set to a relatively high temperature compared with that of an evaporator of the other refrigerant circuit, so that a two-temperature evaporation type refrigerating apparatus is formed and a compressor of one refrigerant circuit can be intermittently driven for each predetermined time period in a forced manner. In a defrosting mode, the condenser is made to operate as an evaporator, whereby the evaporator included in the other refrigerant circuit is defrosted.
