  • Patent number: 5069128
Abstract: A device for cleaning a cylinder of a printing machine of the type which uses a cleaning cloth stretched between a cloth supply roll and a cloth take-up roll and adapted to be brought into contact with the outer periphery of a cylinder in a printing machine by pressurizing means, the cleaning cloth being impregnated with a cleaning liquid before it is set in the device. Needing no cleasning liquid supply system or liquid supply control means, the device can be realized in a very simple and compact form, which allows for easy maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4953463
Abstract: A cylinder cleaning apparatus for cleaning the surface of a cylinder such as an impression cylinder of an offset printing machine having a projection such as paper grippers, by means of a cleaner unit with a cleaning cloth which is selectively held in pressure contact with the surface of the cylinder while the cylinder rotates so that the surface is cleaned, by the relative movement between the cleaner unit and the surface of the cylinder. The apparatus has a projection detector capable of detecting the projection on the cylinder, and a cleaner unit retracting mechanism operative in response to the output from the projection detector such as to retract the cleaner unit away from the surface of the cylinder when the projection is detected by the projection detector means, thereby enabling the cleaner unit to clear the projection.

  • Patent number: 4930415
Abstract: A multiplicity of web guide rollers in a printing machine incorporate motors therein provided with respective reduction units and each reduction unit is provided on the side of an output shaft with a mechanism such as a clutch, so that the rollers can rotate normally, reversely or idly. When the web guide roller is cleaned, the roller is rotated in a direction opposite to the running direction of the web, whereby the contamination on the surface of the roller is wiped off by the web. Since the rotating directions of the respective rollers are selected by the controller in association with running paths of webs, so that automatic cleaning of the web guide rollers can be effectively performed.

  • Patent number: 4920880
Abstract: A cleaning machine for a printer is provided for cleaning an outer peripheral surface of a cylinder of the printer with a cleaning cloth through a pressure pad mounted through a holder on a mount member supported by side plates of the frame of the printer. The cleaning cloth is moved relative to the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder of the printer. The pressure pad is composed of a projected member made of elastic material. The projected member includes a flange portion, a first projected portion toward the cylinder and a second projected portion projected toward the mount member. The first and second projected portion is symmetric with each other for reversible use, resulting in prolonging the service life of the pressure pad.

  • Patent number: 4867064
Abstract: A printing cylinder cleaning apparatus for cleaning, for example, a blanket surface on a blanket cylinder of an offset press has a continuous cylinder cleaning cloth stretched between a cleaning cloth supply roll and a cleaning cloth take-up roll which are rotatably mounted on side plates of the frame of a printing machine, whereby the cylinder cleaning cloth being capable of running relative to the outer peripheral surface of a cylinder of the printing machine in contact therewith. The cylinder cleaning cloth is pressed by a suitable pressing member onto the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder of the printing machine. The apparatus further has a cutter which is disposed to cross a common line which is tangent to outer peripheral surfaces of the cleaning cloth supply roll and the cylinder respectively. In case of breakage or tearing of the cloth, the portion caught and stretched by the cylinder is cut by the cutter.

  • Patent number: 4671869
Abstract: A filter device suitable for use in cleaning dampening water used in an offset press. The filter device has a tank in which are defined three sections: a stirring tank section, a floating tank section and a discharging tank section. The floating tank section and the discharging tank section are communicated with each other through a passage at their lower regions. The passage is adapted to be selectively closed by a shut-off device which is operated periodically under the control of a timer. A floating contaminant removing opening es positioned above the water level in the floating tank section. The contaminated water is poured into the stirring tank section through a bubbling means so that contaminants are adsorbed by the bubbles. The bubbles adsorbing the contaminants are allowed to float in the upper region of water in the floating tank section.
