Patent number: 7823560Abstract: A straddle-type vehicle includes an engine, an air intake pipe, a throttle valve being controlled in accordance with an operation amount of an accelerator grip, an engine rotating speed detector or a vehicle speed detector, and an electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU increases the opening degree of the throttle valve or maintains the opening degree at a constant value until the engine rotating speed reaches a set rotating speed which is smaller than a prescribed rotating speed, but if the engine rotating speed exceeds the set rotating speed, the ECU reduces the opening degree of the throttle valve irrespective of operation of the accelerator grip.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2009Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshitomi Nakagawa, Akira Hiratsuka, Yuuichirou Watanabe

Patent number: 7779972Abstract: A parking brake system is provided in which a parking brake state is obtained by forward movement of a parking piston in response to the action of a parking control fluid pressure, and a forward operating state of the parking piston is mechanically locked by a lock mechanism. Moreover, an input member of a brake mechanism and the parking piston are connected by a coupling linkage. A lock piston of the lock mechanism moves toward one side in the axial direction when the parking piston moves forward, and a locking part provided at one end of the lock piston engages from the rear with a retaining part provided on a middle section of the coupling linkage while straddling the middle section of the coupling. This enables an automatic parking brake state to be obtained by a simple structure without consuming power.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2005Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignees: Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Nissin Kogyo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiromi Inagaki, Akira Hiratsuka

Publication number: 20070193838Abstract: A parking brake system is provided in which a parking brake state is obtained by forward movement of a parking piston (33) in response to the action of a parking control fluid pressure, and a forward operating state of the parking piston (33) is mechanically locked by a lock mechanism (43). Moreover, an input member (23) of a brake mechanism (11) and the parking piston (33) are connected by coupling means (35), a lock piston (44) of the lock mechanism (43) moves toward one side in the axial direction when the parking piston (33) moves forward, and a locking part (46) provided at one end of the lock piston (44) engages from the rear with a retaining part (45) provided on a middle section of the coupling means (35) while straddling the middle section of the coupling means (35). This enables an automatic parking brake state to be obtained by a simple structure without consuming power.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2005Publication date: August 23, 2007Inventors: Hiromi Inagaki, Akira Hiratsuka

Patent number: 6203093Abstract: A motorcycle features an improved fairing. The fairing generally comprises a forward panel and a rear panel. The forward panel includes an aperture for a headlight while the rear panel includes apertures for gauges and speakers. By removing the forward panel, a mounting stay and a cavity are revealed. The headlight and the various features secured in the rear panel are mounted to the stay within the cavity. The stay is connected to the frame of the motorcycle and carries the weight of the fairing. An engaging member positively locates the headlight within the forward panel of the fairing when the forward panel is reattached to the motorcycle following maintenance. When the forward panel removed for maintenance, an opening is provided into the cavity defined between the forward panel and the rear panel and the cavity is exposed in both forward and lateral directions.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1999Date of Patent: March 20, 2001Assignee: Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasuhito Suzuki, Akira Hiratsuka, Shinya Anzai
