  • Patent number: 5216778
Abstract: An electric vacuum cleaner having a body, suction generating means and a dust collection space in said body, and a rotatable hose inlet for receiving a suction hose and connecting the hose to the dust collection space. The suction hose has at one end a coupling engageable with said hose inlet. An electrical power supply cord socket is arranged to receive a plug of a power supply cord for a powered accessory of the vacuum cleaner. To avoid twisting of the cord around the hose, the cord socket is located on the hose coupling.

  • Patent number: 5159738
Abstract: A blower cover is provided so as to surround an electric driven blower. The blower cover comprises an upper blower cover and a lower blower cover. An exhaust air duct as a silencer mechanism is provided on the upper blower cover and is disposed between a blower receiving chamber and a cord receiving chamber. The exhaust air duct comprising an outer peripheral wall portion and a side wall portion. The outer peripheral wall portion has a partitioning rib and a curved guiding rib. The exhaust air duct forms a U-shaped exhaust air flow passage. An expansion chamber is disposed air flow passage. An expansion chamber is disposed at a down stream of the exhaust air duct. The exhaust air from an intake port of the exhaust air duct flows the U-shaped flow passage and is led to the expansion chamber. The suctioned air is expanded in the blower receiving chamber. The exhaust air is compressed in the exhaust air duct and is expanded again in the expansion chamber.

  • Patent number: 5042844
Abstract: A hose fixture device has a cylindrical wall with projections thereon, which projections engage a corresponding mounting projection of a hose. Normally that mounting projection is a helix, so that there is a screw engagement. The projections are arranged circumferentially around the cylindrical wall with gaps therebetween. There are also gripper members, again spaced circumferentially with gaps therebetween, which grip an end of the hose. The gaps make is easy to see such engagement. The gripper members are aligned with the gaps between those projections. This provides a secure fixing of the hose to the hose fixture device. Furthermore, the device may be moulded easily. Such a hose fixture device may be used to attache a hose joint component (e.g. a suction tool) to a hose of an electric vacuum cleaner.

  • Patent number: 4809394
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner with panel portion structure which includes an improved panel main body and a blower facility valve body. The panel main body has an exhaust air port and an opening for a blower facility. The blower facility valve body is provided at a lower side of the panel main body and is rotatably supported so as to normally shut the blower facility opening. A first exhaust air passage is formed between the intermediate exhaust air port to the main body exhaust air port. A second exhaust air passage is formed between the intermediate exhaust air port to the blower facility opening. The first exhaust air passage and the second exhaust air passage are changed over by the blower facility valve body. The improved blower facility structure permits the development of a series of vacuum cleaners with and without a blower facility.
