  • Publication number: 20160214183
Abstract: A cutting tool includes: a tool main body; a tube-shaped portion formed on a distal end portion of the tool main body; a hole machining tool core detachably fitted to an inside of the tube-shaped portion; and a head portion having a plurality of cutting edges and which is fitted to an outside of the tube-shaped portion. A circumferential wall of the tube-shaped portion includes an outer wall portion, an inner wall portion, and a fluid chamber which is formed in the circumferential wall between the outer and inner wall portions, wherein a fluid being filled in the fluid chamber. While increasing a pressure of the fluid in the fluid chamber, the outer wall portion is elastically deformed outward and thereby being pressed to the head portion, and the inner wall portion is elastically deformed inward and thereby being pressed to the hole machining tool core.

  • Patent number: 8641334
Abstract: An insert attached to a tool body of a hole machining tool having an attachment seat and a pressing member for pressing the insert to adjust the position of a peripheral cutting edge in a diameter direction of the tool. The insert has a panel shape. One surface of the insert in a thickness direction provides a seating surface, the other surface in the thickness direction provides a peripheral flank surface. A surface facing the rear side of the insert in a tool rotation direction provides a pressed surface in a state that the insert is attached to the attachment seat. A side surface facing the front side in the tool rotation direction provides an inclined surface, and a peripheral cutting edge is formed at a ridge portion outside of the inclined surface in the diameter direction of the tool.

  • Patent number: 7862266
Abstract: A recess and an attachment seat are formed in a front end of a tool body. A panel-shaped insert attached to the attachment seat where the thickness direction is matched with the diameter direction of the tool body and a surface of the insert facing the rear in a tool rotation direction becomes a pressed surface. A peripheral cutting edge is formed at a ridge of an inclined surface on the outside in the diameter direction of the tool body, a bevel edge is formed at a ridge on the front side of the tool body, and a back taper is attached to the peripheral cutting edge. A pressing member for pressing the pressed surface of the insert to adjust a position of the peripheral cutting edge in the diameter direction of the tool body is disposed on the rear side of the attachment seat in the tool rotation direction.

  • Patent number: 5620284
Abstract: In a cutting tool optimally used for working a valve hole in a cylinder head of an engine, a U-shaped groove (11) having a U-shaped cross section is formed to extend along a generatrix of a substantially conic tool main body (1), and a slider (160 carrying a cutting tip (5A) is slidably fitted in the U-shaped groove (11). A spacer (12) formed with a serration groove (12a) is detachably mounted between a wall surface (11a) of the U-shaped groove (11) and the slider (16). The slider (16) is formed on its side surface with a serration groove (16a) which engages the serration groove (12a). The slider (16) is biased toward the wall surface (11a) with an elastic force by a biasing means (15) which is provided at another wall surface (11b) of the U-shaped groove (11) and includes a pressing pin (17), a disk spring (18) and a set screw (19).

  • Patent number: 5482412
Abstract: A slider 16 having a cutting insert 5A is slidably mounted in a groove 11 formed along the generatrix dimension of a substantially conical tool body 1. Serrations 12 and 16a, which are brought into close contact with each other for engagement, are formed on one side surface 11a of the groove 11 and on one side surface of the slide 16 opposite thereto. A wedge member 13 is detachably mounted between the other side surface 11b of the groove 11 and the slider 16 and is pressed against the side surface 11a so as to cause the serrations 12 and 16 to be engaged with each other. No special shaping accuracy is needed for the groove 11 or the slider 16 since any shaping error in these members can be absorbed so that a sufficient mounting accuracy is ensured for the slider 16. Thus, it is possible to reduce the requisite labor, etc. for the shaping of these members while maintaining the requisite positional accuracy for the cutting insert 5A.

  • Patent number: 5427479
Abstract: A substantially conical tool body 1 has a groove 11 extending in the direction of generating line. The groove 11 slidably receives a slider 16 carrying a cutting insert 5A. A spacer 12 having serration grooves 12a is interposed between one wall surface 11a of the groove and the slider 16. Serration grooves 16a are formed in one side surface of the slider 16. A wedge member 13 is detachably interposed between the wall surface 11b of the groove 11 and the slider 16 so as to press the slider 16 to bring the serration grooves 12a16a into engagement with each other. Any wear and deformation due to cutting load appear on the spacer 12 and the wedge member 13, so that original mounting and positional precision of the slider 16 can easily be recovered by renewing these members, thus maintaining a required level of machining precision.
