  • Patent number: 6189427
Abstract: A lathe each or lathes of a machining system comprises a head stock, which is transferred on a rail mechanism. The rail mechanism includes a vertically guiding rail which is mounted on a horizontally guiding rail. A turret has a turret support which has a pair of turret support attaching surfaces. The turret is attached with either of turret support attaching surfaces. A extruded horizontally guiding rail is located between both the bed bodies, each of which is included in each of the lathes. The extruded horizontally guiding rail is identical with a connecting guiding rail which connects the one horizontally guiding rail of the one lathe with the other horizontally guiding rail of the other lathe. A work stocking means is located between the bed bodies. A reversing means for reversing works is provided with the head stock.

  • Patent number: 6139028
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrically driven chuck for holding a chuck of a machine tool, wherein an electrically driven chuck which has no need of any driving means to be exclusively used for a holding chuck, very simplified, and freely adjustable.Chuck fixing means 40 is locking means for locking a chuck body on a headstock 1. Position-deciding pin driving means 42 includes position-deciding part 43 which has piston 44. The insertion of position-deciding part 43 is inserted into position-deciding hole 41 when pressured air is supplied within cylinder 46. When built-in motor 4 is rotatively driven, both main spindle 2 and scroll 17 are rotatively driven, and jaws 30 move to hold or un-hold a work in the radial direction.

  • Patent number: 6082016
Abstract: A cutting edge measuring device is disclosed, which is simple and small-sized in its construction. The cutting edge measuring device comprises: an arm 13 provided on a headstock 7 and movable between the retracting position A at which the arm does not interrupt a workpiece chucked in a main spindle and the working tool T and the measuring position at which measurement of the cutting edge is carried out; sensors 14a provided on the arm 13 and detecting the cutting edge position at an offset position from the axis of the main spindle with contacting or non-contacting fashion so as to transmit detecting signals; and positioning means 15, 27b, 28b for positioning and retaining the arm 13 at the measuring position B. By this arrangement, the cutting edge measuring device ensures measurement of the cutting edge while a workpiece is chucked in the main spindle.

  • Patent number: 5125142
Abstract: Disclosed is a structure of a turret head provided with turning tool mounting mechanisms and revolving tool mounting mechanisms on the turret, wherein a turning tool can be mounted on the revolving tool mounting mechanism rotatably mounted on the turret. The turning tool is mounted on the turret at a holder of the tool for positioning and at the same time is tightly affixed to the revolving tool mounting mechanism at the tapered portion of the tool. Also provided is an engaging and disengaging mechanism for engaging and disengaging a gear of a unit drive shaft relative to a gear of a revolving tool mounting mechanism in preparation for mounting a revolving tool different in direction. This feature enables a revolving tool different in direction to be driven.Another feature is a provision of a lock gear. Locking the lock gear allows the revolving tool mounting mechanism to be employed for turning tools. The revolving tool mounting mechanism can be used for revolving tools when the lock gear is unlocked.

  • Patent number: 4949443
Abstract: A numerically controlled lathe which is capable of effecting combined machining comprises a frame constituting the main body, a main spindle driven to rotate, a main spindle chuck provided on the main spindle to hold a workpiece, a multiple-tool head having a plurality of tools, a turret head and a rear machining head. The multiple-tool head has three servomotors to move it along three axes which are perpendicular to each other. The body of the multiple-tool head has an annular frame structure. At least two rows of rotary and non-rotary tools for machining the workpiece are disposed on the multiple-tool head body in a direction parallel with one of the directions of movement. A tool driving motor is provided on the multiple-tool head body to drive the rotary tools. The rotary tools include a polygon machining tool for machining a polygonal workpiece. The multiple-tool head, the turret head and the rear machining head effect machining simultaneously or successively.
